I literally shook my head when she said that. The mental gymnastics people make to justify shyt.
I'd ask her what independent means? I mean yeah to read a contract and understand it is one hellava work for anyone but...how does "independent", "signed" and "I can't release music" mix fine in her head?

TYRONE GA!
:francis: I feel like in order to get in the game, you have to take the slave deal because you hear the same situation everytime

that's why if you blowing up indy, you shouldn't have to take a slave deal. Take the best one that comes without getting no vaselined.

But there's a reason these labels go after the young, dumb, and naive. Sign a dummy who knows no better or someone who's on game? Easy answer.

Saying you didn't read the contract is one thing but lets not act like a struggling artist has much of an option. I think eventually a group of " big" artists band together and get the courts involved. Unless you're an "internet sensation" you're completely fukked. There should definitely be a universally accepted beginners contract of some sort. At this point a contract is damn near a payday loan.

Akademiks made a great point roc nation are just out here trying to poach artists, they manage her and uzi, who went through the same drama
They manage like 150 artists, tv-personalities, producers, dj's, engineers, athletes and on or something, Akademiks claimed to have a BSc in Applied mathematics and this is the time of statistical inference he makes

The shelf life of a female rapper isn't long. If you're really good you might squeeze 10 years out of it before you get bushed. I've listened to her music and she's decent at best. Everything is riding on her looks. She lucky for her is 25. Nicki Minaj's first album came out in 2010. In 2018 her 4th album the fall off was very apparent. There's always some ex-stripper who's younger and looking to replace you. That's how it is when you're an artist that people aren't checking for because of your art.
Nicki also played herself. In the past five years she has:
  • Publicly feuded with a rising female star (Cardi B)
  • Released terrible music
  • Married a rapist/pedo
  • Alienated her fanbase with her social media antics
Nicki could've taken a better path and possibly extended her career dominance. No one is going to rock with a petty, self destructing bytch who's musically a shell of herself.
