We’re talking about becoming a superstar

not enough money to drive a rav4 and even then it’s unlikely you will make enough for a rav4 going that route
Justin Bieber started on YouTube. I'd rather be on that site and still in control of my destiny than burning out the prime of my career on some slave contract. As a female rapper once you hit mainstream relevance if you're still there in 5 or so years you'll be lucky. She's gonna spend her career prime time on a slave contract and after that it'll be a wrap.

Everyone starts on YouTube

you think Beiber signed a favorable first deal

this is just the sacrifice you make to be a star

The shelf life of a female rapper isn't long. If you're really good you might squeeze 10 years out of it before you get bushed. I've listened to her music and she's decent at best. Everything is riding on her looks. She lucky for her is 25. Nicki Minaj's first album came out in 2010. In 2018 her 4th album the fall off was very apparent. There's always some ex-stripper who's younger and looking to replace you. That's how it is when you're an artist that people aren't checking for because of your art.

As soon as I heard “ I didn’t read what I signed.” “ I was young “

i :unimpressed:

Artists have been getting jerked since time began. They all have the same line. Is nobody reading the contracts?:mjtf:

There's really no way around it though. I'm finding each day that people don't read, and reading comprehension is virtually non-existent. The label will just reword it in the most technical jargon that it'll confuse most. And if they get a lawyer (an industry lawyer in the same circles), the lawyer will tell them it's standard new artist contract, and a good deal, so here we are again...It's the way of the industry.

I think the artists need to look at the long game, and start thinking of themselves as independent contractors, and approach the labels as such. Pay me for these services I provide for you over this period of time, and which we have the time to renew. Of course the labels will never go for that, but still.

10 years is a long career in rap

Nicki got more out of rapper than 99.99% of rappers do

This post make it seems like you’re arguing she should’ve signed the deal

Meg has 2 plat singles and 1 gold single. She can eat off of those records forever
