Here's the thing with the Melo situation.....He was on 50 win teams in Denver himself bruh. It ain't like he was always on 30 win teams prior to being on the Knicks.

While one will say "Kawhi has been able to be groomed" and I won't fault them for mentioning that, one can flip it and say that Melo has been given the keys from the jump and has shown......you really can only go but so far with him as THE MAN. Only has made it out of the 2nd round twice in his 10 post season trips is hard to spin bruh.

The keys how? Again, who is the best player Melo has ever played with? Who is the best coach Melo has had? The closest thing to a superstar that Melo has played next to is an older AI. Bron, Kobe, Chris Paul, and Durant have all played next to prime and unequivocal superstars. Curry is playing amidst what may go down as the greatest team of all time. Duncan played under a GOAT coach in a GOAT organization next to David Robinson and Tony Parker and now Kawhi.

What "keys" exactly are you referring to? :martin:

nikkaz hate Melo like the redheaded stepchild. All logic goes out the window when it comes to him :snoop:

Logic shows he's never been a good enough player for us to care who he's played with.

Keys to being THE MAN bruh. And let's stop acting as if Kawhi are playing with prime big 3, he's not. they are CLEARLY at the end of the line now and he's the leader and the engine to this team. Duncan is still the anchor defensively in the paint but again, this team is going NO WHERE without Kawhi. This is not even debatable.

You're arguing against yourself, I never proferred otherwise.

PPG is the most overrated thing ever. Ability to fit into a winning program/with other talent is the most underrated along with IQ. Folks stay giving Melo the teammates pass like he and AI werent first rd fodder or as if he and Amare didnt shyt the bed together or as if he didnt choose his situation. People also underrate what it takes to fit in in SA. You gotta sacrifice minutes, pts, touches, glory, and money. When has Melo ever shown a willingness to do these things consistently? This aint 2k. You dont just magically and seamlessly transplant Melo's 28 pts to SA without major changes on both ends. Conversely, Kawhi in NY is a young, hungry, mutable, two way player that didnt cost them any players or picks and who just started getting paid.

Exactly. Let's keep it real; ask Melo to only have 10-14 shots a game....how effective do you believe he's really going to be? Wasn't this the same dude that was [reportedly] a lil tight over "Linsanity" a few years ago?

Are nikkas really tryna say the Spurs wouldn't be better if they replaced Kawhi with Melo? Melo puts up numbers in the shytty Knicks offense with shytty guard play & mostly offensively inept bigs. Imagine if he got the rotations & open looks & ball movement they have in San Antonio. Imagine if he got to play with Parker, Duncan, Diaw, Ginobli, Popavich, and now Aldridge. I think the boost they'd get in offense would make up for the drop in defense. Kawhi can't command a double team.

Durant will have a field day against the Spurs if they switch kawhi with melo and kawhi was drawing double teams since the Clippers series.

Do you not spend half the game playing defense and half the game playing offense?

The gap right now between Kawhi and Melo on defense is bigger than the gap between them on offense. Right now, I'm definitely taking Kawhi.

Better stats than Kawhi? Sorry, but....no.

head to head doesn't look good either

SINY!!
Basketball IQ is under appreciated/underrated. This is where players with similar builds, skill sets, etc are looked at differently. Kawhi has had the benefit of learning under one of the best coaching staffs ever assembled, and learning from some of the best teammates ever. Sadly Melo hasn't been imparted with that same basketball knowledge.

The same Linsanity that got them back in the playoff picture while Melo and Amare watched. Melo has not proven to have an impact worthy of the trouble or the money.

How many times did those Denver teams run into the Lakers or Spurs in the 1st round though.

And the same Linsanity who QUIT on the Knicks because he was scared to play Miami after they EXPOSED his ass.
