"I was flip-flopping," he admitted. "It was hard. It was Chicago, but then after I met with L.A., it was L.A. But it came back to Chicago -- and was pretty much always Chicago or New York.
Melo low key trying to tell us something about LA

Yea....he's full of shyt :pachaha:

Him saying saying he wants to win, and then signing with the Knicks is an insult to all of our intelligence. Speaking of money, why didn't he take the full max??? Not like they can sign a quality player with the crumbs he left on the table anyways.

actually that little bit of wiggle room will allow us to offer a potential max contract next summer, something that couldn't be done if he took the full max

They don't need his pay cut to sign a max player. They will already have the cap space to add a max player with Amare's, Andrea's, and Tyson's contract off the books. The cap is also expected to be sky high with the new TV deal the NBA just acquired:

Jackson spoke with confidence that money won’t be an issue and, more importantly, that it won’t hurt the Knicks cap situation as much as people might think if he does re-sign for the max (or something close to it). “I think there are going to be things that are going to be happening in the near future in the NBA that’s going to grow this league,” Jackson said of the salary cap, which is tied to league revenue. “And I think, monetarily, it’s going to end up being not an issue for us to do that.”

All of this assumes, of course, that Anthony comes back — either for one year under the terms of his player option, via a five-year/$130 million max-level contract, or, in perhaps the happiest scenario for New York, on a new deal that carries a small discount. An extra few million could absolutely matter as the Knicks clear the Bargnani, Chandler, and Amar’e Stoudemire contracts off their books in the summer of 2015 and hungrily look to replenish.

According to a source, instead of taking the maximum 7.5 percent raise of $1.8 million in the second year of the deal, he will take a smaller percentage increase, gaining $400,000. The Post had reported Anthony would not take his 7.5 percent increase in Year Two. Knicks president Phil Jackson had laid out five contract proposals, including the $129 million max deal Anthony passed on. The Knicks hope to add a max-like player such as Gasol and a solid mid-level sidekick. Jackson said on MSG Network’s summer-league broadcast: “We would like to get two good players that could possibly come in and bring some youth and some strength to us.”

"He did exactly what we kind of asked him to do. Give us a break in the early part of his contract so that when we have some wiggle room next year, which is hopefully big enough wiggle room we can exploit it, provide a more competitive team for our group," Jackson said.

In Chicago, he can't “compete for how ever many years” because Rose and Noah are always hurt and the owner never brings in help. He always put everything on Rose and Noah, despite the failure of that approach. A 34 year old Pau Gasol is not the answer for striking out on 'Melo. Rose won't even play when he's been cleared to play because he's too busy protecting his money. I love him, but it's true.

Dolan never knew what he was doing, but he was never cheap. He paid 'Melo, Amar'e, Tyson etc. The problem was that he also paid katz like D'Antoni. Good thing he paid Phil to run things. NY was 'Melo's best choice to win, by a landslide, and he got $124M. That boy hit the jackpot! :snoop:

this is coming from someone who tried to debate that cole aldrich was as good or better than :noah:

:comeon:

and speaking of noah, how u gonna say he's always hurt when he played 80 games last season??? :camby:

the knicks can have all the cap space in the world, but outside of kevin love, there are no big name free agents next summer. and I don't think the knicks are in the running for lamarcus aldridge.

Bringing up something I recanted, admitting that it was merely conjecture, to further argue conjecture (because you don't know how Cole will compare to Noah when he gets the minutes next season) doesn't nullify my current argument, hence you inquiring about it. :feedme:

How is he always hurt? :dahell: Noah has only played more than 66 games once in the last 5 years and when he finally did it (this season), he had to have knee surgery. :scusthov:

Marc Gasol isn't a big name?

The biggest names (Miami) lost twice in 4 finals against 2 AARP clubs (Mavs & Spurs), almost lost to the AARP club last season, and got stomped by the AARP club in 5 games this season. Big names (OKC) beat the AARP club only once because they were super-stacked, and lost in 6 games this season because they were stacked but not as much as last season.

He will be asking for a trade in two years.

He will say something to the effect of. I don't like the way this team is headed

Nope!
Anthony having a no-trade clause. The Post has learned he also has a maximum 15 percent trade kicker. If he were to waive his no-trade, any club interested in dealing for him might see that trade kicker as a large deterrent.
The trade kicker gives Anthony less of a chance of forcing a trade. However, Anthony has the what-is-now-standard opt-out after four years, as first reported by ESPNNewYork.com.
