This black balled narrative does seem kinda ridiculous

He never showed that his game can translate into a low usage role. He plays a star’s game with a role player talent level at this point. That’s why contenders don’t want him. Bad teams don’t want him because why give mins to a mid 30s player over a young guy that could possibly be something down the road?

Melo hate is crazy. Dude came in the league almost 20 years ago, he had a good long career and if this is it, he goes down as one of the greatest scorers of all time (top 25 all time - 25K points), 10 time all star, 1 time scoring champ, 3 Gold Medals and one of the best championship runs in NCAA history winning a chip for Syracuse. And if we being real, he should've won that ROY over Bron (he lead his team to the playoffs as a rookie in the crazy competitive West of the early 2000s and never missed the playoffs for 8 straight seasons). That is a legendary basketball career.

He's beloved by all the superstars in the NBA, highly respected amongst his peers in the league (also by legends - Kobe, AI, MJ, KG, etc.) and at his peak, was absolutely unstoppable on offence scoring the basketball. He had an arsenal of moves - spins, step-back, post ups, godly midrange, 3 ball, fadeaway, quick off the dribble, strong as an ox and whenever he wanted, could bully past and get to the rack on anyone. Including Bron. Used to absolutely destroy Bron in his Denver days but nikkas forget about this. He wasn't a perfect player and had his flaws, like most players in the league but he really only had ONE good team with a strong supporting cast if we being real in his prime and they made it to the WCF, losing to the eventual champs (Lakers).

But nikkas are in here saying he'd Jabari Parker in today's game :francis:. Disrespect is absolutely crazy for one of the games greatest players. Never understood the hate, really but I noticed it's usually from goofy corny cac like nikkas that for some reason don't like Melo :manny: real nikkas recognize.

There are plenty of bad teams that would be better with Melo, but most of them are purposefully tanking.
If you honestly think melo is making any “bad” team better you’re delusional. This is the same man who won 17 games, 32 games and 31 while in his prime on the knicks in a shytty East.

I’m one of the biggest melo fans on here, but I wouldn’t sign him if I was GM. I do think he can be a solid 7th or 8th man off the bench, and he I know he’s come out and said he’s willing to play that role. But I honestly don’t trust him.

What happens when he only plays 5-7 minutes 3 games straight and then the next 3 games gets “dnp- coach’s decision”, you think he gonna sit idly and stay quite? At this point in his career it’s just not worth it, i can get the same 14 minute production from a younger player who can play both end of the court.

not to mention we're starting to see the League move in a more youth oriented direction. Even "bad" teams like the Magic, Kings, Bulls, Hawks, Knicks, Suns, Pels, Mavericks, and Grizz are trying to train up their young core players. I think Front Offices are realizing that in the age of player mobility, building organically through the draft is the safest bet.

Yeah. I post in the Seum daily. I’ve pretty much never said anything about Melo until this thread. He doesn’t interest me as a player. He’s obviously not blackballed. He’s just bad.

nikkas in the Seum do not actually WATCH BASKETBALL so of course they don’t understand that.

Paragraph 1.)
Melo couldn't make any team better.

Paragraph 2.)
You think Melo could be a solid role player. A statement directly at odds with paragraph 1.

Paragraph 3.)
This really only applies on a contender. But we've seen him come off the bench on a contender playing the role you said he'd be good playing. And it really doesn't apply to a lot of the bottom teams in the league. I think we can all agree most of them don't sign Melo because they don't want to be good and value a draft pick.

We can come up with reasons why Melo isn't in the league, but it isn't because he isn't good enough to make an NBA roster. :yeshrug:
