Not the same. They promised Kobe they'd build a contender, he got saddled with Kwame Brown & Smush Parker. When they had a chance to land Jason Kidd they didn't want to give up Bynum who they weren't even developing at the time. If you have the chance to get an all-time great for an unproven young player, you do it. Keeping Bynum worked out as they made 3 Finals and won 2 with him.
