It's about building and being around your people, while maintaing health and putting yourself in a position to win.
If the fans don't like it, theres plenty of college ball to go around.

I think teams had to relinquish rights to players for that to happen though. Could be wrong but modern free agency didn't start until 1993 when Reggie white went to green bay
