I did this shyt my first year and a half in IT
Had no family so soaked up all the experience, Paid off all my depreciating debt, nothing better than a clean slate
Also saved up a down payment for a condo
I used my VA loan to get a duplex, moved out and rented it out. I now earn some damn good passive income to where I don't have to work 60 hours a week anymore

Contract ended, got a job earning close to twice as much.
Having no debt means more disposable income, more money to invest in stocks, crypto and options trading, and more money for freedom
I doubt he recommended doing this forever, but if you brehs can do this for a year AND HAVE A PLAN, and don't spend the excess money on dumb ass depreciating shyt then you won't regret it
