My ex’s grandmother was like this. An elder Gullah woman. Didn’t want me to lift a finger when I was around. I really did appreciate her, a lot.

Now, of course I had to do a little work to get to that. I used to stop by her house on Tuesdays to take the garbage to the end of her driveway. Also, anything she needed picked up from Home Depot or somewhere, she knew I would get it for her since I had a truck.

My mama is like this to an extent. Whenever she would visit, she would help my girl with dishes, clean up around the house without being asked, and she gone always wash my clothes. I tried to tell her she didn’t have to do all that, but my dad pulled me to the side, and told me to just let her do it. It’s what your mom wants to do

what has changed more since the time period when these values were common in family households?

have the women stayed the same or gotten worse from the traditional women in the past...?

have men stayed the same or gotten worse since the traditional men in the past?

or have both changed and we have completely different dynamics period?

imo it takes ALOT more work to deal with modern women that traditional women...

women have it easier because their standards have dropped drastically...

They no longer have to move like traditional women... society doesn't look down on women for not being traditional

the issue comes from basic boring average nikkas not being able to build families with a traditional one...

in the past, the nikkas working at a retail store could get a traditional woman...

not because he deserved it..but because basic boring average women were just traditional too by design

they didnt need an above average breh to be that way



the only one really suffering is kids raised in single parent households...

Both want to pick and choose elements from both the old and new dynamic. Certain women want to be kept but ALSO "independent" and certain men want a traditional marriage but cannot afford for their woman to be a stay at home mom and it just doesn't work like that.

No woman in a relationship where she's 50/50 on the bills is gonna feel good about not having help around the house just like no man who pays all the bills are gonna accept a do nothing woman around the house.
