Messi already putting his team on his back in MLS. Inter Miami won the League Cup Final. Messi named Best Player.

Who cares what he did it in?

What do you mean "who cares" Lol They both had 10 goals/assists but Mbappe did it in a full game worth of minutes less. So how are the stats the "same" I don't see how you could say they are.

And the part about "Messi had to carry his team.." you mean like when Mbappe scored a hat trick in the final? Who else scored in the most important game for France?

Anyway, you can have the last word on it because I'm only here to discuss Messi in MLS.

I think it already looks funny (and interesting). Wasn't Miami the worst team in MLS? Now they are killing people.

Without any legit competition to look forward to, I suspect the novelty will wear off for a lot of MLS viewers. We'll see how it plays out.

I ain’t think the “others” in Barcelona would be doing more than keeping Messi cozy, but even them nikkas, old as hell, might clear these MLS dudes

Goes to show you how truly horrible Inter Miami was before he came :francis:

I said Messi was still top 3 in the world and some scoffed at the idea. The football landscape in 2023 is facing a bit of a lull in terms or world class attacking players at the top, most likely caused by the COVID pandemic and the world stopping. This isn't 2015 when there were so many studs playing.

Other than Haaland and Mbappe, who is seeing Messi on the pitch? Even those 2 guys are straight up and down goalscorers, Mbappe offers a bit more, but neither comes close to possessing the all round game Messi has. As rightly mentioned, it wasn't too long ago Messi was dominating teams at a World Cup. PSG just didn't work for him for several reasons.

At Miami, he has a team all too himself. The only thing that could stop him from going crazy is the quality of his teammates, that's it.
Messi is NOT better than Vinicius or Salah as of 2022
Nkunku is probably better too, but I have to see how he does in the PL.

and also, Messi may have better numbers than alot of forward, but I'll still take players like Dembele, Klalasomething(that cac from napoli) over him because Messi is kind of a cancer on the field against big teams that press. he doesn't track back and his dribbling is not as great before to make up for it. he can't dribble as easily and create chances against big teams like before because his acceleration is gone. which is why he was losing the ball so much at psg. he was dominating the world cup because most teams didn't press argentina. even France pathetic asses didn't press them until Camavinga came in later and pocketed him.
Messi is the goat, but come off this. he's getting so much space

Who cares what he did it in? Mbappe was playing on the most stacked team in the entire tournament while Messi almost single-handedly won games for his own team.

Messi scored in every single game of the knockout phase unlike Mbappe who ghosted against England and tiny Morocco. He wouldn't even have been relevant in the finals if the Argentinian defenders didn't choke and get nervous. He was nowhere to be seen for large parts of that game.

Whoscored and virtually every statistical site out there rated Messi as the WC best player and officially he was as he won the Golden ball as well.
Respectfully, if the team was as stacked as you say, he should have less goals or less of an overall impact than he did. The fact that he shone so brightly is a testament to how much better he is than the rest of his teammates.

Also, he legit put the team on his back during the finals that he won. Not on some "Screw it, I'll do it myself" shyt either... but on some "objectively, everyone knows who the best player is and it's not close" so the coach can say it out loud and everyone agrees a la MJ in the finals
Footage from inside France's dressing room at half-time of the World Cup Final captures the simple advice Didier Deschamps gave to his players: "Give it to Kylian Mbappe!"

They have vastly different roles and playing styles, but I really think you're doing a disservice to Mbappe's role and impact as a player simply because he doesn't control the game as much as Messi. It's like comparing a HoF point guard to Shaq. Controlling the tempo accounts for a lot but that doesn't negate the way that mismatches and help pulls defenses out of position and creates opportunities for the entire team

Man Busquets was still a top DM just this past season! Miami really came up, scooped up 2 living legends still on their shyt. It's gonna get even worse when Alba starts playing he and Messi had crazy chemistry
