Messi already putting his team on his back in MLS. Inter Miami won the League Cup Final. Messi named Best Player.

Why didn’t he sign with a PL, Spanish, French, German or Italian squad?

Italian, German, Spanish teams (outside of Barca and Real Madrid) don't have the type of money to afford him and if we are being honest Barca doesn't have the type of money to afford him. He went to PSG where there is money, but PSG is the only team in France that type of money and honestly it never was a good fit there. PSG is good enough to coast to Ligue 1, but not built or run well enough to win Champions League. That leaves the PL, Man City and maybe someone like Newcastle with their new owner could have afforded him, but I don't think he really wanted to go to England. Saudia Arabia could pay him, but then he'd be following Ronaldo there. Plus I don't think his wife and kids would have loved the strict rules that are enforced there.

MLS came in offering less money, but plenty of bank end opportunities including ownership rights and Apple money. It's closer to home (Argentina) and the Argentinian federation is opening a facility in Miami for the next World Cup. Truly he's better than the MLS, but the options of where he could go was not as many as you'd think. Based on salary most teams in the world had no shot.

Lot of you probably also don't know that Copa America 2024 is being held in the USA instead of Ecuador where it was originally going to be held. Messi might not play in the 2026 World Cup, but he'll most likely be playing in the Copa and it will be held right here and games most certainly will be played in Miami and where I'm sure Argentina will make as their base camp for training.

See you all there in 1 year.

Messi won everything a soccer player could dream of winning. Miami is a stress-free part of his career. He's surpassed his main rival long time ago and another European club championship wouldn't really add much into his legacy. That's how good his career was.

I think he’s trying to save himself for international play so he can go for one more World Cup.
Longshot. He'll be damn near 40 in 2026. Father time is undefeated. Even if he played three more seasons in USA the mileage is still there. Plus he already won the world cup. I get it 2026 will be in North America and after MLS performance it would be huge to still see Messi. But only do that if body still holds up. You are supposed to enjoy life after retirement too.

Messi is playing his first game on the road tonight. He scored the opener, but they trail 2-1 to FC Dallas in the second half.
