Damn this shyt dead AF. I was hoping for some impressions. Never played any MGS except for Phantom Pain which was a 10/10 for me. Worth playing this version as someone who never played the OG?

I’ve heard this remake is amazing with the graphics and audio. I haven’t copped yet but planning to this week.

If you played TPP, it's worth playing, though I would not pay full price for it. I paid $70 and while I enjoy the new camera, controls (you'll have to change some of them because for whatever reason the face buttons are different on this than on TPP) and new animations, it's still a game that came out in 2004 that doesn't really change anything else or add anything unique (I guess ducks?). It's a nice remake, but I would wait on a sale. I like 3, big fan, no regrets, but it's hard to recommend it to someone who wasn't. Especially when you only played TPP which is radically different from prior MGS games.

As for the game, Foxhound rank already. I appreciate the fukking autosave, because fukk picking out the best save spots and having to redo shyt from there.

I forgot how short this game is.
It took me about 4 hours or so to get past "The Pain" boss fight and according to the PS5 home screen I'm 30% of the way through with the story.
(This is a good thing for me because I just finished Death Stranding 2 and that one took me over 40 hours).

I'm enjoying the game overall and it obviously feels like the OG because outside of aesthetics the game is exactly the same for better or for worse depending on what you were expecting/wanted.

I don't really agree with the critiques about the graphics. On the base PS5 the game looks and runs great. I think some people feel like if a game doesn't look like Horizon Forbidden West then the game's graphics are trash. Visually I think this game fits just fine with my expectations for current gen games.
What does throw me off though is how good the game looks vs the dated mechanics. The game looks very modern but for example, the entire "Pain" boss fight feels so dated it's a jarring and distracts from the experience. I can see how some might feel like that's more of a positive than a negative, but for me, it feels out of place. If I had it my way, all the MGS games would be remade with the same exact story, voice acting, maps, enemies, etc. but the only thing that would change is that they would have the gameplay of MGSVTPP.

Far as can this game wait for a sale? Absolutely. I bought it day one but for most people, I would recommend waiting for it to get to at least $50 if not $40 which I suspect it'll hit that on Black Friday.
