In terms of live performances A LOT of these artists suck ass. Only a few like Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Metallica have the organizational discipline to put on quality shows night after night.
Beance (empty head) taylor cac dont write they music..

They are performers not musically inclined. Someone wrote all they music..

The Isley Brothers had a #1 album in every decade from the 60s to the 2000s. Heavily influenced the top genre of music today (Hip-Hop), but they can't sell out any stadiums. People forget, Rock Music is on the decline and its biggest newer acts have heavy Hip-Hop influences (Imagine Dragons). Even Country artists (Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line) and K-pop artists (All of em) have Hip-Hop influences. Yet Hip-Hop greats aren't being celebrated on nearly the same level of 80s and 90s Rock bands. The Foo Fighters never had the sales success nor the mindshare of Snoop Dog, yet they could sell out more stadium tours.

Now I'm going to hurt some feelings here, but I blame millennials. Black Gen X'ers rocked with 60s and 70s black artist and let them influence their music. It was millennials that didn't want anything to do with older hip-hop because they had Napster and Soulja Boy.

I feel rock lends itself to live performances more than hip hop. They play instruments, sing live, got a light show, stage flames, do random cover songs etc it could be a new experience each time. I love rap but shows will be dudes lazily karaoke singing to their album. Crowds will come out while they are hot but its not an experience to keep coming back to. Its like the crowd is just there to see a celebrity.

I mess with some Metallica. That Welcome Home song is workout music

“Welcome to where time stands still
No one leaves and no one will
Something something something
San-i-tarium
Leave me be
San-i-tarium
Just leave me alone”

That’s some polish my pistol type music

They are pretty much the Beatles of metal. One of the greatest bands of all time in terms of both popularity and musical skill.
 Yeah, no. They got a loyal fanbase and manage to swap out older fans who dislike records pass a certain era, with new, younger ones that think it's hip to be into them along with those younger fans generally liking the better, older stuff before they switched from thrash to hard rock, then forgot how to make songs that were decent in either genre.
Kirk hasn't been allowed to shine or been pushed to want to do so for well over a decade, Lars is deteriorating behind the drum set and the Mexican Crab bassist, while very nice, hasn't added to the band on the level Jason Newsted did when he wrote/played with 'em before being bullied into quitting.

I'm talking about at the height of their creativity, their first 5 albums are classics. They have to be the most influential metal band of all time next to Sabbath. Every young guitar player wanted to solo like Kirk or riff like James, every beginner rock drummer plays Sandman. At 60 years old they are not going to be the same as they were in their 20s.
