The legacy of this album says a lot about how high the bar was raised for Meth. And maybe rightfully so...one could argue that he had the throne at that point in time.

But yeah, a great piece of work with legit timeless records. I can only imagine what was in the works pre-flood.
I don't really even think it's arguable... at that time, he was the man. He was the one everybody was waiting for.

Yep, good album. But just some dissapointing samples. Nothing wrong with simple. But on that one it was too simple. I remember being hype for Meth vs. Chef. And then when I heard the beat it was like "Oh". It needed more stuff like "Mr. Sandman", Biscuit. I got used to "Mr. Sandman" but when I first heard that I was dissappointed. I love the weird Wu samples but that one took some time getting used.

Bring the Pain was simple but he killed it. It worked. Not all the simple beats worked on there.

Very disappointing album...Mef was King at this point..I remember Keith Murray dropped the same time and got way more play

Only 3 albums I've been disappointed in:

Canibus - Can-I-Bus
Bootcamp Clik - For the People
Mef - Tical
Can-I-Bus was dope. Actually, Can-I-Bus was much more dope than I expected it to be considering he was working with Wyclef :scust:

No hate on Wyclef, he's a dope ass nikka - but he's not exactly who you expected to be dealing with when it came to a nikka like Canibus who could rap circles around the sun....
I'm one of the biggest Boot Camp heads and to be honest I for some reason always knew if they ever came out with Boot Camp albums they'd be garbage :yeshrug:

you're right about Most Beautifullest Thing killing Tical (at that time)... that's why I got so much more time with Tical - cause my music source always had Keith Murray with em :wow:

if anyone wants the deluxe edition double disc that came out a few months ago dap for it. It sounds a little louder to me in spots. Biscuits is still muddy as hell though.

Tical being viewed as a chink in the wu run is at this point a dated view. if IWW can be appreciated at this point, Tical is a damn masterpiece.

:wow: So while I was 8 when it dropped, the main things I remember about that time period was the Bring the Pain video that blew my mind and just made me stop and pay attention. The black and white, the eyeball, the fangs, all of it just made a young me pay attention. I finally heard the album once I got to middle school and was diving head first into Method Man, who'd become my favorite MC, and the album blew my damn mind. The way it starts with Tical, the way it ends with the Method Man remix and all the dope stuff in between is just perfect. Bring the Pain is such an incredible song for any genre not just hip hop. Biscuits is slept on, Sub Crazy is eerie, and Stimulation is :wow: every damn time. The crazy thing about it, outside of All I Need, meth didn't make a very accessible album yet it sold more than any of the first round of Wu joints because of that song and just his appeal. And to think he put it all together on tour because the OG version got destroyed just shows how great dude is. This album has become like a cult movie and it's finally getting its due. Yeah it's not as "great" as the ones that followed but that doesn't mean it's not dope all the way around. There are few albums that inspire me creatively and this is one of them. Meth has been consistently dope and this is the start of all of that. And I firmly believe that what he does on the 2nd verse of Bring the Pain is one of the dopest performances in the history of the game. Not just the rhymes, but the pattern, the scheme, the flow, all of it

I was 14 then. The bar was raised so high for this album, and I think it was considered good when it dropped. A good album, a solid album, you can play it all the way through, and it's still a solid/good album. I remember thinking how short it was though. Am I the only one that hates all of those remix All I Needs?

the ONLY problem with this album is that the rest of the Wu albums made this ish forgettable. Dirty, GZA, Rae stayed in rotation but this ish didn't get much play after that.

I'll never forget the first time I heard this beat :to:

to me, this beat always signified the bridge from the beatmaking RZA came from, and him making the shyt all his own. That beginning portion w/ the horns & xylophone vs that crazy string sample. It kinda gave the RZA head nod that, "yeah, you heard the shyt on 36 & this one, but I'm about to take shyt next level." And then he did.
