Michael Mann's Miami Vice came out in like 2006 and it wasn't a very good film. I like Michael Mann films like Heat, The Insider, etc. but that one had zero replay value. Even back then it was obvious they should have kept Miami Vice to the 80s.

And 20 years later they wanna try this Miami Vice formula again? They are soo out of touch with reality.

2007 was probably one of the last great years in American cinema. With crazy good movies like There Will Be Blood, No Country For Old Men, Zodiac, etc.

After that year it was the start of comic book film spam, worthless movie franchise reboots and other shyt that continues up to this day....with some great movies showing up once in a while but not as often as it used to.

As again....jaime fox should never be cast as a serious black hero reboot. Where a former black hawk ladies man was previously cast.

Agreed, and not gonna lie, the women in my family don't like Jamie, they think he's goofy, but they love Idris. But Jamie does feel like a studio decision at the time. Are you sure Mann had the power to veto that?

Allegedly when i went to google and check idris's timeline.
To see if it aligned with the wire and thos reboot.
I found out jaime was a complete ass. That michael mann should have bossed up on fox earlier. Really as soon as the suggestion was made.

I liked the previous film. I'd be wit it. But is another attempt at a movie the right way to go for this IP? I think a series would be something people would be excited for. Movies been bombing left and right and the last movie didn't do to well if I remember correctly. Just get wit HBO and make some good television.

I liked the Michael Mann version back in the day

That film has always gotten undue hate to me, I've liked that film from the day it dropped

Rewatched it the other day and it really holds up for me.

But to be fair I never was engaged in the OG series like some others

I’d seen bits x pieces , its a lil before my time ,l

I peeped it more in the strength of Michael manns work

So for me it hit , I see where @Art Barr is komin from

If I had kome in to this bein a die hard fan , or a regular week in week out , I get the vibe and castin wouldn’t have sat right

it would have probs missed the mark fo me as well

But

it did enough for me , to be fair it was a grower for me the more I watched it and the directors cut , solidified it

Plus the actress from the bond films was in It for a cameo
