Miami's biggest problem is that they didn't hire an elite coach to lead them

so I guess last years title didn't happen then?:what:

we're talking about this year. Them winning 27 straight games means nothing as of today.

They could win 50 in a row for all i care, i'm saying we're only to judge them what they do in the playoffs.

:laff:

How do you know Spo is not drilling into his players that you have to close out hard on the shooters.

Like I said process vs. results.

The heat have the best offensive in the NBA and offense is not their problem.

Like Kenny Smith always says, plays are for non superstars so they know where to be.

Great players never need plays to get any shot they want.

Aggression:heh: focus :heh:

Get out of here with that intangible garbage

My guess would be by them not closing on the shooters, and their continued missed assignements on the defensive end. :pachaha:

The heat shot 42%, which is terrible for the most efficient offensive team in the league, so yes offense is a problem, but obviously not as gaping as the problem on defense. Lebron every game looks good then looks like shyt. That's coaching, he has to motivate these guys to come out the same way after a win, and also after a loss. Lebron simply does not respeect this guy and this is part of why he continues to float from game to game.

How would you explain the heat's jeckll and hyde mentality over the last month if agression and focus wasn't a part of their game 2 game issues.

They played the Pacers #1 defense in the NBA

They are playing a top 3 offense and a top 3 three point shooting team in the NBA.

So if Phil Jackson was coaching this team they would be playing better D?

The main problem with the defense is that they have to crash the boards because they are bad at rebounding.

With everyone cheating to the paint they are going to have open shooters.

Phil Jackson very rarely doubled teamed elite big's he went against, so more than likely he would've made Hibbert, and now Duncan beat them instead of allowing wide open 3's to happen and bury his team. The 09 Lakers had the best 3pt defense % in the league that year, and they had similiar style athletes as the heat have now.

Ariza, Kobe, Shannon Brown, Fisher, vs Lebron, Wade, Chalmers, Cole, Battier.

They're awful at rebounding crashing the boards or not, the issue is they play 5ft off shooters to cheat the paint and they're not recovering on defense and it's leading to open shots. It doesn't help that green is good running off screens as well.

Example, look at the green 3 in the second half when Diaw set the screen and haslem had to switch, wade was way late running to the screen and it gave green just enough daylight to get his shot off.

These are excuses... Apparently the only elite coach in the is Popp... The rest of the guys are old / retired (Phil, Sloan, Larry Brown). Spo is a great coach, it's up to the players to put in maximum effort every game

a former video coordinator isnt qualified to coach this type of team.

:stopitslime:

Soon there will be zero "qualified" NBA coaches by this logic. Spo knows the game well, knows the stats, innovates, etc. His teams performed well even before Lebron. Lets face it guys like Riley and Phil are retired and I would rather have Spo than most of the other playoff coaches (Woodson, Karl, Brooks, etc)

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
Almost everyone would agree that Miami has the better team, talent wise, in this series. The fact that they are down and havent won 2 games in a row for almost a month, should certainly fall on the shoulders of the coach.

People want to say- "well what if Spo is creating these plays but so-and-so aint executing". Thats almost a laughable excuse- because after 3 years, he should be able to command the respect of his players. If you dont buy into my scheme, fukk it, sit yo' ass on the bench.

He should feel like he is able to get in Lebron or Wade's face if he feels they are playing too passive.

He should feel like he is able to yank anyone out the game for leaving Danny Green open beyond the arc.

He just appears timid when addressing his team. He may not be an 'in your face' type of coach, but he definitely needs to get a better grip of his squad- which is sad to say from someone 3 years in...

it does matter. no one was saying miami needed a coaching change because they were the overwhelming favorite to repeat.

now they're losing and it's "they need a new coach". it's lazy and a copout.

sorry jplaya, not every team in your fantasy world can be coached by phil or riley, or auerbach or daly.
