I’m still confused on why Nas would team up with Irv to blackball Mic over some petty Foxy Brown shyt?

I know how coli is...so what I am going to say is going to catch flack but this happens all the time. Its all about energy. If you know you know. Anyone perceived to take energy from another, it has to be dealt with. Its not about if Mic felt he was a threat to Nas or if Nas felt it either. I am not saying Nas blackballed him either. it wasnt petty shyt. The Firm was the next big thing. all parties involved, especially the labels cant have anything taking any luster away from that group. and Mic has ALWAYS been compared to Nas even though Coli seems to have no recollection of this. I remember after shyts Real video dropped, there was heavy anticipation for Mic and I am not sure if it was Source Unsigned Hype or Independent Corner but there was an article saying that Mic was a "baby Nas" this is before his deal with BLUNT and 20 sum years before Steve Stout even uttered it..

so if he is being compared to Nas, that is not a good look for Fox to come out and say Mic is her brother when she just met him a few minutes prior. Whether we admit it or not, if there was no Nas, Mic would be bigger. Thats not saying he was better. Just saying. Same as if BIG wouldnt have died, Jay wouldnt be where he is today. Jaz said Jay used to do this shyt too. They would bring Jaz in and put him on a record and only give him one take and let Jay come back and redo his verses. Not that Jaz was better but there can never be the perception that a lesser known rapper is outshining you on your own track. At least not back at that time it wasnt.

shyt happens in the music industry all the time, I can name dozens of examples...going from MJ-Prince, Mary J-Faith, etc....and lets not forget how R. Kelly had Jive shut Joe shyt down because he felt he was in his lane.

Yeah, It sounded like he was making Nas guilty by association because of the Stoute connection more than, that he thinks Nas was personally doing it to him.

this. or you can say he felt like Nas was privy but turning a blind eye to shyt that was going on. I didnt come away from the ep thinking that he was accusatory of Nas blackballing him or being a part of it.

one of my favorite songs ever

the history is crazy and a lot of it was revealed on the show. Nore came off a standout performance on War Report but he was in serious jeopardy of losing momentum and had no direction until Nature put him on I'm Leaving, and Flush (through his relationship with Capone) put him on his album and Pun showed love. Then he became very sought after and it was off to the races.

one crazy thing..and coli likes to say these guys were punks because they werent really dissing the West, but its crazy that Dogg Pound and CNN were two of the biggest proponents/agitators of the East vs West beef but both sides said neither of their records were intended as disses. :mindblown:

:snoop:. there were lives lost behind this shyt because people dont understand how powerful songs/words are when dealing with nikkas in the street that have nothing better to do but some ignorant shyt.

I think that ends up being a lot of people's issue with Nas. He stays out of ish, and that's his right, but sometimes he does have to take a stand on some ish for everything to be smooth, because he is Nas. Even a simple "that's not true" goes a long way. But he's an introvert, so you expect it.

I mean Mic dead said that he told Nas the only reason they wasn’t tussling was because Nas had helped him out of a situation with some cops a few years earlier. So obviously he felt a REAL way about Nas being involved

I’m tempted to say it’s 1.

the Nature one was no where as good as it couldve been because he was like everyone else trying to be politically correct and tip-toe around issues and he did that same bullshyt in the car interview with Trag. Mic didnt give a fukk. It poured it all out. the other thing was there was too much talking over and interrupting in the Nature interview and some important things were missed.

they may as well not even had Agallah on there....:snoop: they didnt go into any of his history...how he hooked up with Onyx, how he was rolling with EPMD for a minute and produced for PMD. and worst of all they didnt really touch on ANY of the Purple City shyt, how he linked with them and how they fell out. How him and Sean Price were damn near a group and did many songs together. Ag production credits is crazy, Busta, EPMD, Das Efx, Onyx, Remy Ma, Guru, Ghostface and he has songs recent songs with late rappers Prodigy, Vice Verses, and Malik B. They couldve touched on that. Showed no love to the new album with Sadat X which is a banger. He really needs his own show if you want to claim you are paying homage or you are supposed to be the "UNSUNG" of podcasts.

classic album

actually, two classics that TVT didnt know how to handle because they were new...which is understandable. not to mention they didnt lock up Ja when they had CMC on single deals. iirc I think Lyor was still going to let Ja do a CMC album on another label after his solo. then as Mic said, they couldve signed a number of future rap stars...LOUD was in the same position. Mic (and AZ alike) shouldve been on Def Jam.

facts....but lets also keep in mind that these guys were in their early 20's....not damn near 50 like they are now. you just cant see a lot of shyt when you are young.

Basically he was saying that him and Nas had a bond (he said he knew Nas to some degree even before Illmatic dropped from interactions at Large professor's crib) as teens (17 yr olds) and in his opinion, later, Nas shouldn't have stood to the side and let Stoute (Stoute got with nas later/after Illmatic...so when Nas and Mic first met, Stoute wasn't part of the picture) try to black ball him over Foxy Brown being somewhat disrespected. To me, trying to blame any of this on Nas is more of a stretch than what went down between Nas and Mega over Stoute:dahell:

Why does everyone think this interview is great?

Reasons?

I skimmed through it, and don't really want to invest 2 hours + of my time.

It's scary. These are like men in their 40s emotionally stunted due to excessive alcohol and weed use. Interupting each other when things get too intense, slurring, looking unhealthy.

Ice T never touched weed, has a beautiful family, is physically fit, looks 20 years younger, and is working.

That's who I look up to.

Mic Geronimo and Royal Flush are cool, no disrespect.

I just feel they are greater than the drugs.

Royal Flush's Street Boss edition was one of my favorite projects of 2018.

Bless.

for me personally, it was great because I love history for one, two, this is era I grew up in, and three I am a huge Mic fan. the history is interesting to say the least, particularly the back stories. also how closely related Mic and Flush are with CNN.

I am not a huge DC fan for some of the reasons you mentioned. mainly the talking over each other and then their line of questioning and noting of historical events/timelines is not concise. what they are some of the best at though is giving the background on the personal aspects connecting the street to the music.

lets not understate the seriousness of it though. again, I am not saying Nas is to blame but Mic's career was on the line over some shyt that he didnt intentionally do. you see the guilty by association theme all the time. 50 went to war with anyone that did a song or even appeared in a video with Ja. speaking of Mega, remember when they were in QB and cant remember who the other guy was, and he said Nas aint out here and Mega laughed and that further put a strain on his relationship with Nas?
