Biopics only work if they give us the nitty-gritty. The details only close family and friends would know....not just the good, but the bad and ugly.

Puff pieces are fine for people that are lesser known to the audience.

For someone like MJ, it doesn't work as well because we already know so much about him. I wouldn't want Mike getting raked over the coals.....but are we going to learn anything we don't already know?

Jackson's are too tight to allow a candid, unfiltered look at their brother. I don't blame them.

The original focus of the movie was to actually dive into the accusations head on and expose how that first family lied on MJ and the father of the accuser was out to get money because Michael refused to invest in a movie idea he had.

The issue is they shot all of it and THEN it came to light that part of Michael’s settlement with the accuser was that the estate couldn’t ever dramatize or mention him or his family in any estate-backed film or series.

So they had to change the ending, the director’s cut of the film already went into the 4 hour range so the idea was to do a two part film, which they most likely will do, but the second film has to have a completely reshot ending and they have to make brand new deals with the principle actors so now their waiting to see if this first film turns a profit before they commit to the second film.
