The problem with Invincible as an album was the tracklisting. It didn't flow well from track to track but it had some gems.
Butterflies, Unbreakable, Break of dawn, Heaven Can wait, Whatever Happens, You Rock my world, Invincible
yeah Mike didn't have any creative control over that album......
1. the Japs at SONY wasn't concerned with mechanical royalties off of Albums ..so they SLASHED BUDGETS they wanted Sony Atv to smash it's competitor Warner Chapell in the catalog publishing market cause that's where the real money was at.
That's why they had bought EMI publishing...also the PlayStation money made them Japs realize Music wasn't as important. ..so Tommy to his credit had to rollback financing for this album...Mike was, already getting a 30 million dollar advance for this album...so Tommy tried to save money ... and save his JOB

the Japs would eventually FIRE tommy mottola in 2003 buy out his contract after a horrible quarter revenue sales and the failure to obtain the other 50% of the SONY catalog from Micheal ...
2. Tommy saved money by getting his mafia goon AL Melnick to befriend Mike via Brett Ratner who was already being "financed" by AL for the RUSH HOUR MOVIE...Brett invited Mike to a party with Chris Tucker and everybody else Al was eating off of ...next thing you know Al gets Chris Tucker in the video for ROCK MY WORLD and it gets directed by Brett Ratner whom Al speaks of fondly:
first met Michael about nine years ago. I was told that he had heard about me and was interested in meeting, and in particular wanted to request a tour of my house in Palm Beach. Michael was an architecture buff, and he had admired the property from afar. He was in L.A. at the time, and expressed interest in discussing several different business ideas and plans. He finally asked [director] Brett Ratner, whom I refer to as my 11th son
Brett Ratner to the left...and Al Melnick to the right with his hand on Mike's shoulder
AL with his hand on his "other son" Chris Tucker
This is the same AL who went and got a loan to rid Mike of DEBT from Bank of America using Mike's catalog as collateral without Mike's consent by going thru Mike's lawyer who would eventually be fired John Branca who Mike realized had a conflict of intrest because he was representing SONY as well................
Mike would eventually be sued by Bank of America for missing a 70 million dollar installment payment
Mr. Jackson faces an immediate cash crisis with a $70 million loan from the Bank of America that is due on Tuesday and has no money to repay it, the advisers said. But Al Malnik, a Miami entrepreneur who is helping repair Mr. Jackson's finances, said that he was trying to have the loan extended
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/12/arts/michael-jackson-faces-cash-crisis.html
Al Melnick was nothing more than a OG HUSTLER he started out as a protégé of Meyer Lansky of the REAL MURDER INC.
Lansky and Melnick had been extorting and finessing dudes since the RAT PACK days when they had cats like Sinatra and Sammy Davis at their infamous nightclub called the FORGE in Miami beach...
Melnick was so bossed up he was referred to by one south florida publication as the man who MADE MIAMI

It wasn't long before Mike hired a private investigator to not only find out who was conspiring against him and putting him into debt, but to also find out Melnick's background as a Mafia Mobster.......who even after his death had found ways to eat off the estate.
Making claims that he was not only "godfather" of Michael son Blanket but he was also the Chief Executor of Mike's estate...

At The Forge (from left): Shareef Malnick, Al Malnick, Serena Williams, Michael Jackson, Chris Tucker, and Bret Ratner (front).
[UPDATED: Holy shyt. Jose Lambiet got Malnik on the phone, and he said Michael Jackson named him the executor of his will and godfather and guardian of Jackson's youngest son, Prince Michael "Blanket" Jackson. Read Lambiet's
"Page 2" post here. Malnik also
spoke with CBS4's Lisa Petrillo and said he was executor of the will in 2004, but he's not sure if he's still in the will. Considering the fact that Jackson reportedly believed he was the victim of a
"conspiracy" by Malnik and Tommy Mottola to grab his asset
, I doubt Malnik is still either executor or guardian of Blanket. But wow, Malnik really got his hooks into the King of Pop. The crazy thing is that neither Lambiet nor Petrillo mentioned Malnik's Mafia past, which is arguably the best part of the story. Guess that's why Malnik talked to them. This Malnik thing is going to get madly interesting, I'm afraid.]
Facing a criminal trial and millions in bail costs and legal bills, Michael Jackson found a "friend" in a local man: reputed mobster Al Malnik.
Malnik, owner of the Forge restaurant in Miami and a
former close associate of Mafia kingpin Meyer Lansky, befriended the pop king and let him stay in his 15-bedroom, 35,000-square-foot Palm Beach County mansion in Ocean Ridge. Jackson even
sat with Malnik at the head table during Malnik's 70th birthday bash at the Forge in 2003.......
Michael Jackson's private investigator Gordon Novel backs up the claim of a conspiracy to leave Mike in ruins as well as obtain rights to his ATV catalog with heavy involvement from Al Malnick..but out of FEAR he tries to avoid any implication of Tommy Mottola
He said Jackson had special loathing for Malnik because he felt betrayed by him. When I told him that Malnik was saying that Jackson had made him executor of his estate, he was dubious.
"He had split up with Malnik," said Novel. "He never said anything about Malnik being executor of his will. And based on how pissed off Jackson was at him at the time, I wouldn't believe it on a bet."
3# This was Mike's last studio effort of NEW MATERIAL and he THOUGHT he only owed them ONE MORE ALBUM ...but the clauses in his contract actually state he owed them 2 MORE ALBUMS of new material ...they were willing to accept a double disc..but Mike wanted to hold off till
2009 when he would retains rights to his PERSONAL CATALOG (MJJ) as well as still maintaining 50% of SONY's making him the largest INDEPENDENT PUBLISHER OF ALL TIME
http://muzikfactorytwo.blogspot.com/2010/12/michael-left-sony-in-2002-and-he-never.htm
Mike felt he could BUCK on SONY.....that's why he was talking shyt......but the clauses had him tied in....he didn't give a fukk...he said fukk dat contract and started taking advances to get his own indy deal with cats in Bahrain giving him a 7 MILLION dollar non recoupable advance as well as millions he was getting from the Saudi future father in law of Princess Diana...
and NEVER turned in any NEW MUSIC to SONY nor did he pay Melnick and his people back that 70 MILLION dollars that they CLAIMED to had cover for him on that loan bill...
2009 unfortunately ....was the year of his DEATH
and people wonder why Michael felt "paranoid"........ this man had Tupac problems to the tenth power
it's DEEPER than a Song and a Handclap
