As a lifelong MJ fan, I never understood the hate for it. To me this album is more consistent than HIStory. Songs like Unbreakable, Break of Dawn, Butterflies, You Rock My World, Speechless, Cry, Threatened, are MJ at his finest. Unbreakable might be my favorite. Mike wanted it to be the album's first single, but Sony didn't allow it. Would've been huge probably.

I still can't believe how Sony turned their back on Mike when this album came out, and how they bought all his rights and cashed in like a mf after his death. Sony Music is pure cancer.

Also, Jay Z was supposed to be on this album. Does anybody know why this didn't happen eventually?

Anyway, I'm happy to read that I'm not the only one who enjoyed this album so much. Imagine this album tho with some production from The Neptunes. They offered Mike some beats, but he declined them. Some of these beats made their way to Justin Timberlake's Justified and became big hits. Would've taken the album to the next level.

Still, this is 8/10 to me

It really was underrated and it was a breath of fresh air for mj musically to take this album forward with more of an r&b feel to it. Sony just hindered mj from getting recognition for this album.

Unbreakable, you rock my world, butterflies, invincible, break of dawn, and heaven can wait was pure heat.

The only trash song was 2000 watts, but the rest was nice.

His team made the idiotic decision of declining heat from the neptunes. Can you believe that, the neptunes during their prime run. Turned out mj liked the songs.

Album is piff, I don't understand why this album dosen't get its just due as being one of his better works. shyt is pure love making soul music. I feel where he went wrong was choosing You Rock My World as his debut single cause that song wasn't that great.

Agreed completely OP! Break of Dawn is hands down one of my favorite MJ songs of all time. I can loop that song over and over again and it’s still sounds like the very first time hearing it.
