"Among those watching the Spurs put the clamps on the 76ers was veteran star Tim Duncan. The 35-year-old was given the night off. No, Duncan was not sidelined by any particular injury. Of course, the official box score at NBA.com does list a condition that likely won’t be improving any time soon."

The media's all light hearted when the Spurs started doing this (and this wasn't just Duncan, he's sat all his star players, young and old over the years)

Now it's a complete 180 when it's Kawhi doing it.
:jbhmm:
It was all fun and games when he did it. It’s all good when someone you don’t care for doesn’t play (ANYONE can do load management. Otto Porter does load management. I don’t see anyone demanding he play every night).

teams feel like they need to do this to navigate a season, just like in any other sport now. With the salaries they get, you’re always gonna err on the side of caution because nobody wants a Thibs type of guy running guys into the ground anymore. If you can tough it out, great, but anyone suggesting that the league should choose the lineups for teams is overstepping their boundaries.

IMMIGRANT TETHERS
Something something something players are playing harder than they did in Jordan's era...blaH blah Jordan would load manage too...blah blah something about James Harden being more talented than MJ according to the math
literally 1 post later....

all this juelzing but you fail to mention the league is more competitive and cutthroat in terms of athletic demand, tempo, possessions per game than ever.

Dont nobody give a fukk about Wilt matched up with some insurance salesmen, and games with scores of 79-69

A guy like MJ wouldn’t get it, because back then, it was expected to play 82 games.

they would stay out the night before, and come to play as if they weren’t out all night

guys are built differently now
umm who's that in your AVI:lupe:looks like someone i would never want to speak on

If I put someone on IR or IL in another sport, I’m allowed to call someone up or sign someone. The NBA doesn’t really lend itself to being flexible with roster spots because of the cap, so no team would ever use it

Good point. That's a starting point, though. You gotta de-incentivize load management and start from somewhere...

So every player should have their salaries significantly cut because 5-7 players sit out games?

Nah the real reason to shorten the regular season is because the 82-game deck is now antiquated and NBA fan support has long lacked in the regular season...

Duncan still played 80% of regular season games every year of his career besides his last season...

So what Pop was doing was a little different than the shyt Kawhi is suggesting...

Now there are reports that say 65 is his number, that's 80%. But if he's gonna rest games I do think teams owe it to The League, their fans, and their partners to use load management more responsibly (ie not sitting stars who are healthy enough to play on nationally televised games)...

You gotta de-incentivize the way they are running load management right now...

All facts and the NBA is way late on reducing the season. 62-70 games is where the NBA should be, the '12 lockout season was an excellent blueprint...

Yes a shortened season will also shorten salaries but let's not act like these guys are destitute to start with, they will be fine...

Not enough attention is paid to this quote...

Kawhi has had a very fortunate career. I don't know where this idea comes from that having him on your squad makes you a championship lock...

Sixers lost G7 on a buzzer beater, if that game goes to OT and Philly wins we aren't over hyping fam...

They were down 0-2 to Milwaukee in the ECF and took OT with Giannis fouling out before turning that series around. If Milwaukee goes up 3-0 we probably aren't over hyping dude now...

And I think it's almost universally recognized that GS beats them 4-1 at minimum if they remain healthy. There is no scenario I see Toronto winning that series if everybody was even and all things are equal...

Kawhi has had a number of breaks and I give him credit for establishing himself as one of the best players, but this idea that he's done it all and has enough equity that he has nothing to prove is off...

The Hornets actually don't look terrible this year, either...
If, if, if is all I read .. let’s talk about what actually happened not what didn’t
