First off, Kobe is an NBA guru. Secondly he already spoke on load management

"I ain't ducking shyt"...

Kobe was that guy...

only way i can see the nba do something is a rule like if its a back to back if a player misses one he can' play the other

@L. Deezy made a great point in another thread that the NBA should institute something like a 7-day IR and have the player miss all games within that 7 days if people are gonna play this load management game...

You gotta really nail down specifics in order to enforce that, but I think that's a brilliant idea to build from. You gotta take the incentive out of load managing since you these guys aren't giving a fukk about missing national TV spots...

I hate the fact that I was dead set on being against this nikka when he was playing....

I should have rode with him from jump. Dude was a fukkin beast. :wow:

I'm fan now tho :salute:

To be fair, he's more likeable now than when he played. This from a guy, I've said many times when I started watching the NBA in '99, it was because I became a Kobe fan. Ripped his posters out of old Sports Illustrated mags, tried to mimic his game on the playground, and I was a Lakers fan before I was a fan of any other team...

His game was always widely respected, but it was widely acknowledged he wasn't a likeable guy, and there were plenty of valid reasons why...but he that dude and retirement has really helped his image and brand and I'm happy for him, too...

I'd rather have my star play 66 games and be rested for the offs and get a ring than worry about playing fukking Knikks in March

New league, new ways
I grew up in the 90s but this fake tough guy "bacc in my day" shyt is :russell:

The season shouldn't be no damn 82 games as is

MJ the goat but he has to throw his 2 cents in on everything:camby:

It's cool Malone played so many games but he ain't never get a chip so who cares.....there ain't no trophy for most games played

All facts and the NBA is way late on reducing the season. 62-70 games is where the NBA should be, the '12 lockout season was an excellent blueprint...

Yes a shortened season will also shorten salaries but let's not act like these guys are destitute to start with, they will be fine...

if kevin durant didn't pop his achilies, no one would've praised kahwi for load management as the rapters lose in 5. He caught major breaks in the playoffs

embeed being sick/injured

half the warriors being injured

Not enough attention is paid to this quote...

Kawhi has had a very fortunate career. I don't know where this idea comes from that having him on your squad makes you a championship lock...

Sixers lost G7 on a buzzer beater, if that game goes to OT and Philly wins we aren't over hyping fam...

They were down 0-2 to Milwaukee in the ECF and took OT with Giannis fouling out before turning that series around. If Milwaukee goes up 3-0 we probably aren't over hyping dude now...

And I think it's almost universally recognized that GS beats them 4-1 at minimum if they remain healthy. There is no scenario I see Toronto winning that series if everybody was even and all things are equal...

Kawhi has had a number of breaks and I give him credit for establishing himself as one of the best players, but this idea that he's done it all and has enough equity that he has nothing to prove is off...

Can’t say that without seeing his profit margins.

They’ve had some solid teams since he’s been an owner it’s not his fault they’ve drafted busts

The Hornets actually don't look terrible this year, either...

If I put someone on IR or IL in another sport, I’m allowed to call someone up or sign someone. The NBA doesn’t really lend itself to being flexible with roster spots because of the cap, so no team would ever use it

Why give up games in your prime

I mean I see both sides of the argument. Obviously, some dudes have so much love for the game, they couldn’t imagine not playing if they aren’t injured. But some people, it’s simply not that serious to them, so they will give them games up. Especially someone like Kawhi, who is doing with a focus of being as fresh as possible for a deep playoff run.

Everyone who is in the league is not some die hard hoops nikka. Most started that way, but for a lot of dudes it’s something they love, but still look at it as a job. Hell, basketball was my first love, and I always joke I would never reach my full potential if I went to the nba. Cause once it becomes a job, some of the shyt you love to do will turn into annoyances.

I remember the media laughing and calling it jokes when the Spurs would sit Duncan, Ginobli and Co. and the reason for their DNPs would state, "Old".

Pop is a big reason this Load Management shyt has been adopted and now resonates throughout the entire league.
See the thing Pop was able to get away with is that no one cares about the Spurs

So every player should have their salaries significantly cut because 5-7 players sit out games?

TIM-DUNCAN-OLD.jpg

HuffPost is now a part of Verizon Media

"Among those watching the Spurs put the clamps on the 76ers was veteran star Tim Duncan. The 35-year-old was given the night off. No, Duncan was not sidelined by any particular injury. Of course, the official box score at NBA.com does list a condition that likely won’t be improving any time soon."

The media's all light hearted when the Spurs started doing this (and this wasn't just Duncan, he's sat all his star players, young and old over the years)

Now it's a complete 180 when it's Kawhi doing it.

To be fair, it was a half court game at that time. A lot slower
:stopitslime: You really were dap fishing on page 1.
Ignore the fact they played more back to back, practices were way more intense and you got destroyed when you drove to the basket. Don’t compare the 82 game schedule of 2019 to that of 90’s (much less the 80s-when players didn’t even fly first class and flew commercial across the country)
