YOU DONT KNOW
WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT.

ORLANDO WON 60 GMS
AND SEATTLE WON 64 GMS IN 96

HEAT WON 61 GMS
AND UTAH WON 64 GMS IN 97

PACERS WON 58 GMS
WHILE THE LAKERS/SONICS WON 61
AND THE JAZZ WON 62 GMS.

IF THAT SAME SCENARIO TAKES
PLACE IN 2022 MJ ISNT TAKING
ANY GAMES OFF.

Who said anything about the same scenario?

Even if I was, those teams would be resting star players as well. I don't see what is controversial about this. Everyone does it in today's NBA. Jordan wouldn't be any different. Malone and Stockton would too.

HERES THE CAVEAT YOU
USED IN YOUR POST....
If 96-98 MJ played today he’s sitting games for rest. I don’t blame any player for sitting 5-10 games a year, especially if your team is head and shoulders above the conference.

AS YOU CAN SEE
RESTING 5-10 GMS A YEAR
WOULD HAVE COST THE BULLS
IN THE STANDINGS.

BRON PLAYED 82 GMS
HIS LAST YR IN CLEVELAND
BECAUSE THEY NEEDED HIM TO.

KD PLAYED 78 GMS HIS LAST YR IN GS
BECAUSE THEY NEEDED HIM TO.

Not if other teams were resting as well. Penny and Shaq def taking games off. Payton and Kemp, Stockton/Malone, Miller, Mourning, Hardaway, etc.

Point is, if everyone is taking rest like they do now, probably wouldn't change much. The Bulls were still 5 games ahead in '96 and 8 in '97. Dicey in '98 as Pippen was out for much of the season, but they didn't have HC advantage in the Finals anyway.

EVERYONE DOESNT REST.

YOURE MIXING COVID PROTOCOL, AND LEGIT INJURIES IN WITH PPL RESTING.

VERY interesting his 1st team center spot came down to Kareem and Robinson... David had only been in the league for a couple seasons by this interview. The 95 series against Hakeem ain't happened yet. Hakeem already been in the finals by 86 and been in the league for 8 seasons like Michael, had much more All NBA and All Defense selections, yet Robinson was still the guy he was debating with Kareem...

Hakeem's b2b titles and especially the series against Robinson completely flipped the narratives and perception of both of their careers. They were seen as equals or if anything Robinson was better probably to a small majority before 95... Picking Kareem over Wilt wasn't a popular choice back then either. I think he just forgot Dr. J though. I thought he'd have him starting for sure.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
In the interview he makes it seem like he didn’t really attempt to help his friend tbh :yeshrug:
He was 7 or 8... Do y'all know many 7 year olds that could think logically and save another 7 year old from the OCEAN!! Sounded like a rip tide as well.. AND he couldn't swim.

Imagine being pulled under the water right now by somebody your size, fighting to stay alive.. What would you do? What would do at 7?

People who insist that athletes nowadays are better/more advanced physically nowadays, have to also fess up and admit people back in the days were way more emotionally mature/had more character than nowadays on the whole. And that's despite Mike having clear psycho tendencies. People/players nowadays are spoiled kids in comparison, and that's putting it very mildly. :manny:
Could be a generalization in Mike’s era he stood out amongst the coke heads :manny:

A lot of the kids today do have character when you truly learn their stories. I’d say all the Knicks young guys Toppin, Quickley, Grimes, McBride all high character.

even if one was to grant you that, multiple teams before the bulls won back to back titles and multiple teams after the bulls won back to back titles. none of the best players on those teams played all 82 for both seasons. none of them played 100 games regular/playoffs during both seasons. jordan did it 3 straight years during a 3peat.

Fun fact, Jordan played 304 games from ‘96-‘98 Finals. Kobe played 304 games from ‘08-10’ Finals.

Regardless, doesn’t really change my point. This isn’t a debate about how durable Jordan was. More a thought about the how the NBA has changed.

HE DIDNT FORGET DR. J...
HE CLEARLY HAS BIRD OVER DR. J.

Playboy: And you can beat anyone ever?
Jordan: I did this with Jerry Krause once. He chose Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell, Jerry West. At small forward he had Dr. J. The power forward was Gus Johnson. I told him I’d kill him. Of all players, the all-time greats, he left off Magic and he left off Bird. He was excluding me. He put West at two [shooting] guard.

this is a great interview - goddamn at this part below, never heard this story before:

Playboy: You had a bad experience with swimming when you were a kid, didn’t you?
Jordan: I went swimming with a close friend one day, and we were out wading and riding the waves coming in. The current was so strong it took him under and he locked up on me. It’s called the death lock, when they know they’re in trouble and about to die. I almost had to break his hand. He was gonna take me with him.

Playboy: Did you save him?
Jordan: No, he died. I don’t go into the water anymore.
Jordan probably took it personally and stopped the lifeguards from saving him.
