Right.

40+ million players equals flop cause you said so, but HiFi was a great success.

Sony nikkas are broken :mjlol:
I don’t know what you don’t get. MS themselves said it was a hit and met every metric.

But Sony Stan’s just made it up

:mjlol:

they said they closed these four studios because they didn't have any current projects

What does this even mean though? Arkane Austin were working on the update and DLC for Redfall, Mighty Doom was still getting updates, etc.

What does that mean for studios like Turn 10 that are just updating games they launched already?

It’s not really rationalizations, Microsoft themselves said the reason is they are going to focus on high impact IP, which means they clearly lied about the performance of Hi Fi Rush.

Xbox Game Studios chief Matt Booty announced the restructuring in a memo to staff Tuesday, writing that the closures were “grounded in prioritizing high-impact titles and further investing in Bethesda’s portfolio of blockbuster games and beloved worlds which you have nurtured over many decades.” “We are making these tough decisions to create capacity to increase investment in other parts of our portfolio and focus on our priority games,” Booty wrote

Microsoft themselves have lost the plot and it’s clear the xbox division and Microsoft proper are fighting for messaging behind the scenes. When the head of xbox gaming (Sarah Bond) gets on a huge platform (Bloomberg Business) and looks like a deer in headlights a day after the studios closures its clear there’s more going on behind the scenes.

they had to trim fat. they chose studios that weren't working on a new game that they had already invested a lot of money into

The studio that put out their highest rated game last year that won awards and by their words exceeded all metrics of success is ‘fat’?

Like i said, the messaging is off here.

Again, and it makes sense to you that they would cut a studio that put out their highest rated game, that won multiple awards, and “exceeded all expectations” simply because they were in the pitching phase?

Either they are really bad liars and the game wasn’t very successful on gamepass or they have extremely bad judgement and studio management.

I don't agree with their decision, but IMO the explanation fits
