Microsoft Studios acquires rights to Gears of War franchise/Black Tusk Are The Developers

No disrespect but just trynna understand but how is this news?? Since this was already an Xbox exclusive didn't in a sense they already owned or had the rights?

I don't get the significants, now if they had acquired the rights to say UNCHARTED.....

They never owned the franchise and epic could have done with it what they wanted to.

The significance of this story is that gears is now a Microsoft franchise, AND that there is definitely a gears title in development, which had not been confirmed before. Just a couple months ago both Microsoft and epic said there were no plans of a new gears game

Oh.... I see..... Well.... I like Gears don't get me wrong..... But I'd been more happy if this was done about ME.

That game becoming multi, I feel the pain about that like Sony Stan's felt when MG became multi or even back when GTA came over

I'm willing to be optimistic about this one.

I doubt Microsoft would build an all new studio and put millions behind this project just to release a lackluster game.

This might be just what the gears series needs to get back to greatness.

Well, some times ambition far exceeds the amount of money or talent it takes to make a game or anything. With this, we have no worries of that.

I beg to differ. A lot of devs/pubs shoot for "good enough" to sale.

This project seems to have much higher ambitions. I think gears judgment was one of those "good enough" projects and it shows

Yeah. The ME deal was a lot more complicated. They would have had to buy two entire studios instead of just an IP

the problem is all that money and "ambition" don't always come together. people don't like to invest in something risky. for that matter, if they were really "ambitious", they would invest in a new IP. wasn't Gears 3 supposed to be the 'end of the trilogy'?

nope, it was however the end of marcus fenix story.

How are epic going down? They own the unreal engine.

I'm talking from them making games, yeah the unreal engine will keep them up. But I haven't heard of them making any games aside from Fortnite and idk what's going on with that. I always forget about the unreal engine.
