Why do people expect a product to do exactly what they want or they are angry?

Microsoft decided it was time to evolve their product, if you don't like it, don't buy it. Or get an add on that fulfills your needs. That's the beauty of an open platform.
What the fukk :bryan:

It's a core fukking function of an operating system that's been around for decades. IT WORKS! It's not something you just up and change because you want everyone to adapt to fukking metro. Metro is shyt in the desktop space.

They fukked up and they refuse to admit it.

Don't worry though, when they bring it back for W9 next year, you'll be singing a different tune.

So they are wrong for wanting people to upgrade to their new product, and the direction they wanted to take it?

People get too emotional over this stuff. These products aren't ment directly for you. If you don't like the new direction they are taking it, nobody is forcing you to buy it.

Feeling personaly insulted cause they changed their product:snoop:

Don't quit your day job dude, you'd make a horrible CEO.

If it's not for me then who is it for? Do you have any idea how many frustrated customers I've dealt with over W8? You know what the funny thing is? You can't get a new laptop loaded with W7.

Metro is a great OS on a tablet, but it doesn't work for the desktop space, people are legit frustrated after spending hundreds of $$ and you're telling them to get over it? Y'all nikkas is hilarious:russ:

I see your point, but really, you don't have to see Metro often if at all. I only see it when I press the Windows key and do a quick search for a desktop program.

Innovation does not come from pandering to people's expectations. I'm not saying that windows 8 is some great inovation, but if all companies were only concerned with giving people exactly what they want we'd never have any new ideas.

And people call frustrated about XP features as well.

It's just like when this site changed to the new system. People were mad and frustrated, but once they got used to it they appreciate it for what it is.

The process is botched because the upgrade path XP->Vista->Win7 was botched.

Windows users were never presented with a good reason to upgrade, so now there's a decade of devices that run perfectly well on XP, and Windows users are conditioned to think that upgrading isn't worth it.

Win8 might be great, but it won't run on anything that's > 4 year's old I'm guessing?

That leaves a shyt ton of devices without a proper upgrade even though their laptop/desktop probably does everything it needs to (internet browsing, picture editing, etc.)

Instead of forcing people into Windows 8, MS should just acknowledge XP was a well built OS that still serves people well, but charge a low cost for maintenance. Would users really scoff at say $1/month, $12 a year to keep their old systems going?

Out of the 500 million users of XP, if only 1 percent want to pay, that's like 5 million users = $60 million dollars annually with upward earning power if more people stay on. That's gotta be enough to cover XP's yearly maintenance...

WinXP was not a well built OS in 2005 and definitely not now in 2014.
Funny enough WinXP SP2 is damn near a new OS compared to the original release.
Anyway, people would scuff at any subscription for support for something that "already works".

Also Win8 can run on anything Vista and 7 can run, and sometimes even more responsive.

I have W8 on my ultrabook and coupled with Start8, I don't see metro at all, but when you have this much of a backlash, you know you're doing something wrong. When you fail to address it, you come off as arrogant.

My dude. Please explain to me the benefits of Metro in the desktop environment. There's a huge fukking difference between an OS that was developed for touch and one that is developed for point and click inputs. Why remove the start menu you're just gonna make the whole process more cumbersome? Why should playing a song take up my whole display? Charms and hot corners is total ass on a desktop/laptop. When you innovate or change, you move forward, not backwards. Functionality and ease of use will always take preference over aesthetics. Metro a beautiful OS on touch displays, but it straight up sucks on point and click machines. It's not like they gave you an option whether or not to use it, they straight up forced it on consumers.

"The desktop environment" is going away in itself. Sales of desktops are constantly declining while sales of tablets/phones/laptops are rising. The benefit of using metro in that environment is to be proactive in facilitating the change in market, both for themselves and their customers.

This is moving forward, what you are arguing for is holding on to the past.

And I wish people would quit with the "Forcing it on customers" crap. There's nothing stopping you from keeping your old OS or going with a different company. Nobody forced you do to anything.

Windows 8 isn't bad. Better kernel than Windows 7 with a worse interface. Some of the Metro apps are cool, though. Slight upgrade over 7.

XP is like the chick you fucced in high-school. She was great for her time but you wouldn't give her the time of day today.

Win 8 is great. With an add-on like start8 or classic shell it's actually better than windows 7. However windows 8 in its current state is utter fukking garbage in the desktop space, and it's complete arrogance in Microsoft's part not to bring back the start menu. They deserve every bit of flack they get for their incompetence and stubbornness.
Yep. I remember 'upgrading' my girl's computer to windows 8.... shyt had me seeing red. It's not an upgrade; it's a complete overhaul. There are a lot of people who are not technically inclined but have to use computers for work or whatever. It's too big a change for them. How about I'm working on an article review and I'm stressing cause I've been procrastinating and i have to get it in... Windows will restart in 15 minutes.:why:

Classic shell is good and was a life saver. I use startisback now. I also use modernmix (apps from window store run on desktop). And chrome browser. So I'm good now.

Windows 8 is a beast on tablets though.

So Windows Updates are confusing? Either postpone or set a different schedule. :upsetfavre:
