Maximized Potential
You still have yet to tell me a single benefit of metro on a desktop/laptop. Going away or declining is not the same as gone. You do realize that billions of people use windows machines right? And as much as tablets and smartphones are increasing their userbase, OEMs will continue to manufacture the desktop/laptop"The desktop environment" is going away in itself. Sales of desktops are constantly declining while sales of tablets/phones/laptops are rising. The benefit of using metro in that environment is to be proactive in facilitating the change in market, both for themselves and their customers.

And I wish people would quit with the "Forcing it on customers" crap. There's nothing stopping you from keeping your old OS or going with a different company. Nobody forced you do to anything.
the rest of this decade. They're not gonna magically vanish. They still have to cater to that userbase, but like i said, when W9 releases next year and they do a complete 180 on the metro desktop mess I'll see how you rationalize it then. Microsoft began pushing metro as an OS that was gonna unify all their devices. It failed, and they're gonna begin phasing it out this year, beginning with Windows Phone 9.
