"Midsommar" Movie From "Hereditary" Director (Discussion Thread)

Movie was good once I thought about it for a couple of hours.

To the folks who didn’t like it, were you expecting a traditional horror movie?

not trying to force you to like it, just saying if you were expecting that, then yes I can see the let or the negative feelings


But junk in my opinion was just supposed to be disturbing, unsettling etc etc. and for me at least it worked. I left the theatre, like wtf did I just watch?

I personally own it, and it is not just a willy nilly watch for me

Finally saw this. I think reading so many reviews from people gave me a false opinion of this movie coming in.

Certainly some disturbing parts and some shyt you wanted to look away from...but overall movie was meh and probably because it was too bloody long.

Agreed. Can't front..I dozed off at one point but my girl woke me up on some "If I'm gonna watch this shyt then you're gonna suffer with me" shyt.

I found it was too slow and took too long to get to the fukkery.

Def a movie you have to watch at the cinema. It's a really slow burn and half of the movie is the atmosphere, if you're at home I would guess it's different. I probably would've dozed off/been on my phone a couple time had I seen it at home. I liked Hereditary more too btw, but I really enjoyed Midsommar.

This is a film I’ve been itching to see, but I ain’t paying 15 bucks for it. I’m sure it’s on a streaming site, but I don’t stream. I’ll wait til I see it for cheap.

every review i see of this makes it seem like the 2 leads had the most toxic relationship of all time, and all of their interactions were incredible tense... she was just a damaged pushover, and he was kind of a dikk, but half the time it seemed like he meant well. what the hell was so bad about the guy that i'm supposed to root for his demise? bc he got drugged and fukked in the room full of nude women? b/c his eye wandered? b/c he didn't really want her to come on the trip with his friends? it was a good representation of a fading relationship, but i don't know, maybe it's a male perspective but i didn't think the boyfriend was bad... i could have easily blacked out a couple times and missed a few things, no idea

i get this guy's style is a lot of atmospheric pagan shyt, but so far i'm not a fan of his work. i don't get it. this movie was a slog that showed promise here and there, then just proceeded to slog some more.

Agree here. Should have made Christian much worse in order for me to be cool with his demise. I ended up feeling sorry for him rather than rooting against him. The dude who pissed on the tree was more of a dikk.
