You kind of answered the question in your first sentence. The real version costs so much what's the point of buying a real one. It's actually smarter to buy a fake watch, I've been on fake watch forums and communities and let's just say most of the people there are pretty well off. They're just smart enough to know that the watch is simply for show. Why buy the real thing when you can get the same reactions wearing a fake one for 1/100th of the price. Most of these rappers with fake shyt know it's fake. Obviously they never knew somebody would make an instagram account "exposing" them but I doubt it's going to stop them from doing what they do, the bytch in the club Im trying to impress doesn't know how to differentiate a real one from a fake.

well watches dont really depreciate that much, if at all.. so its a pretty safe investment. I mean theres 3 Audemar watch stores within walking distance (2 in the same hotel company!) in Vegas. Someone is obviously buying the real watches to keep the lights on in these places. These are some of the fanciest shopping malls you'll ever step in America as well, let alone the nicest hotels in America and the rent to be in those places has to be in the 5-6 digits a month..

theres 1 in The Venetian, 1 in The Palazzo (same company) and 1 in Caesars Palace Forum Shops (nicest mall ive personally ever been in and ive been in damn near every mall from downtown San Francisco to the Bev Center in LA in California.. )

they aint paying they rent with gum, so someone has to be buyin these expensive ass watches

To be fair I think some of these rappers don't even know they wearing fake shyt. Their jewellers be ripping them off all they care about is the diamonds as long as it looks flashy they don't give a fukk and won't make sure shyts 100% legit.
Of course they gonna be more vigilant now and its up to them to make sure their jewellers legit.

You're absolutely right. I wouldn't doubt that Ross might even have some real watches but Im sure he has occasions where he'll rock fakes [clubbing, while performing, etc]. Toss the real ones on at red carpets, fancy galas, business meetings and shyt like that.

Black markets thrive on the success of the genuine market, it's not a zero-sum game in which buying from the black market means money is taken away from the genuine market. It may sound a little counter-intuitive but the more fake watches out there means that the genuine ones are selling. A part of me even sometimes thinks the black markets might even be facilitated by the same companies that own the genuine products, this is complete conjecture on my behalf, but why leave all that money on the table?

I'm not trying to excuse their actions. Im just providing perspective on why they do it. Fakewatchbusta actually shouted out Meek Mill for his Genuine watches I believe. You're absolutely right, I think it's completely stupid to flex an upclose picture rocking a fake watch, the ones that do that either probably didn't it was fake or simply didn't expect to get caught.

The thing about that FWB instagram that throws me off though is arent these $100,000 watches hand crafted for the most part (correct me if im wrong) or take forever to make compared to other watches (like a bently) ?? Some of the shyt they say are fake on the watches are real pity "look at the cut on the 8" ..isnt it possible the manufacturer just didnt cut it as smooth ? What are the sample sizes here ? Are they comparing it to one other watch ?

You answered your own question bro, the reason why it takes so long and is pricey is because of the movement inside, the quality control on top of quality control. A lot of the easy spots are like cut off on specific APs, they are cut like that for a reason. It's like a Jordan where the jumpman doesn't have an arm and someone is like...well maybe its just a custom? There is crazy quality control on a legit watch and they wont ever release one that isnt 100% spot on. Same with date windows a lot of times there is a large gap between date window and outer edge on fake because it has cheap movement inside the replica which changes the face of the watch. So you see it off by 1/8" and its like ahh no big deal, but the reason why its off is the big deal, they cant get it exact for a reason. There are tell tale signs for specific watches, and also if you put 10 legit ap oos side bye side you will see all the same exact cut offs on all of them

If these rappers are knowingly buying fake/replica watches, this is one of the smartest things they've done. Watches are not GREAT investments, they all lose value over time, just some lose less than others, people never take into account inflation within an economy when it comes to the future value of a watch.

These rappers don't have a guaranteed, consistent income so buying even a 5-8k watch is not smart considering many won't be around for more than a couple of years and may have to figure out a way to live off that two year prime career income. Also these rapper know nothing about watches but also most of the general public know nothing about watches and what these rappers REALLY make, trust me, we are the small minority when it comes to not believing the Forbes list. Fakewatchbustas has done nothing to hurt these rappers careers so they are insignificant in my book. I'm all about being smart, rappers are expected to LOOK the part, so do it as cheaply as you can, most people are dumb enough to believe it.

Because wearing fake shyt is childish. I don't mind not spending money, shyt I wouldn't buy jewelry period, because that's not my thing really (Though I'd get a watch). But I'm against faking the funk. To me, that's lame as fukk and makes you a cornball. I'd rather wear a G-Shock then a fake Audemar.
