guard is trash?

in what world is working one weekend a month and two weeks out of the year trash? :mjlol:

nah but its like any other gig. usually people in the military are stupid and im easily irritated so i tend to stick to a select group of people, but they pay for school and all my certs so thats lit.

only thing that sucks is i slacked on my pme so im still an e4, but like i said what matters is whether or not you have the knowledge and the full time slot, which i do have.
that's how they get you

plus the promotion system is way different as well....

also you can get sent wherever the state needs you on a whim. remember all the brehs in texas that were fighting the flood in their pajamas

nah, they cant. all deployments are voluntary. im on a voluntary right now.

the promotion system is trash as fukk tho, not gonna lie. the whole idea of a board for NCO is fukking retarded.

You probably heard this because Active Duty people talk a lotta shyt about the Guard. Active Duty people probably ended up on Deployment with some E-4 who got forced to go by his shop, and had no idea what he was doing. This is especially the case with the Army since y'all do a lot of work beyond the wire and incompetence gets y'all killed alot more.

But whenever a Act/ Duty person starts chopping it up with a knowledgeable guard person.....or is on TDY with a Guard Person...you should see their faces.

:ohhh:" Wait wait y'all dont have promotion points?"

:gladbron:"No unit PT or six month PT tests??"

"THATS how much Technicians and AGR's are making????:damn:"

Guard people be over here like...":smugdraper::youngsabo::mjgrin: yep"

But with the Guard, you have to have a plan as to what youre getting out of it or it'll fukk you just like AD.
exactly. nikkas be looking at me with hate in their eyes (no lie) when i explain to them why my checks over in this tax free zone are so much bigger than theirs.

another big difference is that active duty nikkas are lazy with life. at one point i was basically homeless in the guard so i had to glo up quick.

now im 24 about to buy my first crib to flip when i get back stateside, get married, and get my electricians license.

active duty nikkas can barely pass sec +, think fukking every female in the rotation is lit, and have no real direction besides peonage to the government, which is a cool stepping stone, but i refuse to give 20 years of my life full time, especially when you cant even legally pursue side hustles

1. Firstly, How old are you? Cutoff for AF officer is 39,, and 30 to be a rated officer. And you have to have at minimum a Bachelors or be at most a semester out before any recruiter will deal with you. Do you have any misdemeanors or felonies, negative character issues, foreign national relatives or horrible credit? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then that can affect your clearance which can affect what job you get. And hows your health history? No chronic issues like heart problems, attention disorders, asthma?

2. Find a Air Force recruiter and be sure it is an OFFICER RECRUITER. Do not let them finesse you because they will hit u with some "oh yeah we dont have any officer recruiters here but I can help you out buddy :troll:" and next thing y'know youre on your way to Lackland as Enlisted with a Degree. IF they give you any BS, find another recruiter.

3. If you make it this far, the next step will be for you to take the AFOQT (air force officer qualifying test). Without going into too much detail, this test will determine what officer jobs you qualify for. Its an SAT/ACT level test (harder IMO) but if you have the slightest aptitude in math you'll do fine.

4. Lastly PICK A GOOD JOB. IF you want to stay medical, youre in luck. The AF constantly needs medical officers. Other "good" jobs are:

Rated positions such as Pilot, Air Battle Manager (one of the worst jobs), Combat Systems Officer, Remote Pilot Operator (the other worst job) (drone pilot)-Basically these jobs are all about operation of aircraft and/or controlling air space. As a Rated O you are considered the top operators in the Air Force and typically get the better assignment and promotions (most generals in the AF are rated officers).

Intelligence Officer and Cyber Operations Officers-Currently the fastest growing career fields in the entire military. Intel is all gathering and then presentting information to assist in whatever mission you are supporting. Cyber can vary but in general its about either Network penetration/Network defense.

Logistics Officer-Pretty cake job. In charge of supply chain logistics which basically means keeping the warehouse stocked.

Public Affairs Officer-Quiet as kept another cake job with cool assignments. in charge of what your local AF unit publishes and disperses as public info. Can get a lot of cake assignments especially if youre stationed in a big city.

The rest of the officer jobs are kinda shytty lol.

I'm 31. I have a clean record. I see what u saying though.

That's the best post about the officer training I have ever seen. One dude tried to bro me in on some "nah man. Once u get in, you get your ranks". I kept asking him if he was an officer recruiter and all I got was juelzing lol.

I m gonna ask them for those things once I go in for the talk.

Thanks again.

  1. As an LS, I make sure that the ship/dude's running/maintaining the ship have all the shyt they need to do their job i.e. a buy parts. The rate is broad as shyt so it's way more than that.
  2. 13 Weeks. You actually are lucky to get in now because the PT Standards are lax as fukk. Study that DEP book like you life depends on it and pass that PT test and you're automatically an E-2. The males have to run a 16:00 minute mile and a half and it's 18:00 for the females.
  3. Yeah, you can go to school, but it's easier to go while you have shore duty.
  4. Yup all school is free for you.
  5. I'm not far enough in my career to answer this one. @MegaTronBomb! Can prolly answer that for you.

The way they explained on Navy times, is that you have to pass an initial PRT of sorts before you can even start RTC.... but you can nearly powerwalk that shyt at 16:30

Damn...WTF is that all about? Radiation sickness?

You're gonna get more radiation flying a jet than you will working with a nuclear reactor on board a boat/ship.

South Carolina aint like most commands, them cats study all time, longest pipeline in the Navy, miserable people all over the place... and a lot of them aren't able to absorb that much material...or deal with the reality that they're not as gifted or smart as they believed they were in HS.

Every weekend i see cats who failed out of Nuke School come to where i'm at.... and it's a weird thing to see people who would've offed themselves get someplace where they can get themselves back together.

Felt kind of bad for you guys. That shyt only picked up when deployments slowed down. When you deployed every other year you were pretty much left alone back in Garrison. But then you also got in more trouble too. The dualities.

What branch are you guys in? What do you have to say about women away from your home(if you were abroad)? I'd either do airforce or I wouldn't join at all :jawalrus:
