The biggest reason why the Sahel is unstable is two factors. One is the collapse of the Libyan states after Kaddafi’s fall. The chaos from that war has led to lots of arms being funneling into the various insurgencies in the Sahel. This has given the jihadist groups weapons, training and sanctuary. The violence in the Sahel is getting worse and worse. The US and France strategy is to contain the insurgency but not defeat it because it would cost a lot of money and resources. They just do drone strikes and raids to prevent the various jihadist groups unify and create and Islamic caliphate from Mauritania to Sudan. Secondly which is the biggest factor is climate change. As the Sahel gets drier and more food shortages occurs there will be even more instability . The wars in Syria and Iraq was what happens when this happens. One of the biggest cause of the chaos in Iraq and Syria was there was a bad drought in the late 2000s into early 2010s. This led to poor farmers to go to the cities and suburbs. The local government did nothing to provide jobs and radical preachers backed by the Gulf radicalized the populace and boom Iraq and Syria in chaos. This is starting to happen. Boko Haram was a preview to come if shyt don’t change. The North African and Sahel nations are vulnerable to collapse. And this does not bode well for West Africa. Any unified jihadist force that creates a caliphate in the Sahel will launch attacks into west Africa. The time is for the west African nations to strengthen their militaries and create a defense alliance to push back any future jihadist incursions.

I keep hearing 2022 Nigeria will have another Civil War. The current administration is completely incompetent and tone deaf, but want to keep the power by all cost come 2023. Fulani caliphate. Insecurity is at an all time high and secessionist group are popping up each day.

Rumors of civil war? That's news to me.

Sources?

I thought Nigeria was growing right now. I keep hearing that they're doing really good over there and the economy is booming, well at least it was before COVID
My guy as an African I can tell you that most African countries will continue to take long term Ls (with the exception of a few). The only countries that have a shot are Botswana, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa (too many Cacs though), and Ghana. There are some countries that are stable such as Senegal, Gambia, Zambia, Mozambique, and maybe Tanzania but they are too poor. The rest of the Subsaharan African countries are too divided and being played by China/ the west. In the case of Nigeria they need to split up as a country. The northern Nigerians are destabalizing the country with all their jihad bullshyt:francis:. If you want me to be honest Nigeria could become a first world country if biafra/igboland seceded from the rest of Nigeria :yeshrug:. Nigerians in the south are industrious and hardworking while the northern Nigerians tend to be muslim fundamentalists

It has more to do with the Govt inability to defeat Islamic radicals that have taken over the country side than the french.
Islam needs to leave west Africa :sadbron:. Sand Cacs in the middle east like to use poor Muslims to carry out their caliphate dream. That's why these Saudis keep funding terrorism in west Africa. We can't move forward until Islam is gone imo:yeshrug:. Islam itself isn't the problem, it's the fact that poor muslims get influence to commit jihad as a way out. Indonesia and Malaysia are mostly Muslim but safe as hell :yeshrug: .

Can someone explain to me why African and Middle Eastern countries are so susceptible to foreign influence compared to Asian countries such as China and Japan :gucci:. I've honestly thought about this. Even back when China was poor they didn't have multiple countries trying to make plays in its country compared to the Middle East and Africa:gucci:.

Asians think collectively or more as a unit.

Eh...Both China and Japan had countries making plays in their borders. Hell, Japan was all up in China.

Yea physical aggression is one thing but you don't see people running puppet governments or military in those places.

I think I worded my question wrong. Why weren't foreigners successful at destabalizing China and Japan compared to Middle East and Africa? Both countries remained culturally intact and moved forward on their own terms.

West Africa is shaking right now. "Former Boko Haram" militants are now part of the Nigerian military, and killing soldiers. Every day I become more speechless about the future.

Where did you get this information?
