I was working in Al Asad a few years back. One of my coworkers came up and whispered to be, “be ready to pop smoke in 6 hours.”
:sas2:
I’m like, “damn, I just got here, I’m not trying to go home so early.” Then I’m like, “they trying to pop us again?”
:lupe:
This was a few months after Iran fired bombs at us after we killed the general in Baghdad. So I’m thinking this sucks. We work for SOCOM so they would probably take us to Germany until shyt clears.
:gucci:
A few hours later we in the bunkers await a strike.
:damn:
The most fear I’ve ever had in my life. I’d been in blackhawks getting shot at and did convoy ops. At least you know you can die from rounds. Awaiting precision bombs when you have a wife and kids is worse.
:merchant:
Ended up being a false alarm. Iran didn’t fire shot off.
:whew:
We had WiFi in our bunker because we are logistics so it wasn’t too bad.
:wow:

I always thought yall made big money working on/with those things. Is that true?
:lupe:
I got a buddy who works on the MQ4Cs in Oki. He’s a FSR so they already get $900 a day. I never asked him who much he’s seeing on that program.
:wow:
I’m seeing $700ish a day not including daily per diem.
:ehh:
I want big bread though without the danger.

Yea bread was good… was making 825/day … 4-6 months on and 4 off… first 105k was tax free … the rest was taxed

FSR’s make serious bread … at one point I was trying to be an FSR for L3 but I dubbed that and just took a stateside job for them

This Iran shyt reminds me of the time I was working night check on the stinkin Lincoln aircraft carrier as were transiting the strait of hormuz
I'm replacing a gyro on a bird when all of a sudden the missile warning lights started blinking red
I froze while I thought "I'm dead"
Came back to reality and ran down to find my LPO, told him the shyt and he's all
"that's just the Iranians painting you with radar. It's nothing"
climbed back into the bird like
:whew:
