24% of black America millennials get married compared to 42% for Hispanics, 49% for whites and 51% Asian American. Might have to do with the fact that poorer people aren't getting married anymore.

I disagree to some degree, I think being in a DINK situation has a different risk profile than having a family with kids. Kids costs about 250k over 18 years on average, and that's not taking into consideration college costs. The downside risks in a DINK situation revolves around divorce, which given the average Black income/wealth situation is not that great a risk imo. But the downside risk with children comes primarily from the ability/inability to provide them with an education that makes them competitive. Thus, a controversial solution I have is that DINK couples should become more prevalent and popular in the Black community or Black men should wait until 35 to have their first kid (which means they should date and marry woman who are 4-7 years younger).

Yeah the economic downside risks cats associate with marriage is weird to me. It's arguably the only part of the American Dream narrative that actually holds up well when you look at it from both a subjective romantic perspective and an objective economic perspective.

Black men, even college educated Black men with "good jobs" in Tier 1 cities generally don't make enough per year to justify the scaredy cat "economics" rationale jokers are putting forward and what I often see being put forward in TLR.

Divorce law as it is currently set up in most places doesn't justify the fear.

continue to hear this argument about separation or divorce potentially punishing Black people economically, but given what we know about Black income, wealth, debt, and quality of life I am struggling to understand how being single is generally less risky than marriage from a long term perspective. The theoretical arguments put forward in this thread and TLR are not very persuasive, and given what I know about modern divorce law there is a discrepancy between the narratives, theories, and potential downside risks presented on this site and the current state of divorce law.

But I am more than open to seeing evidence that potential divorce and separation and the supposed economic downside risk attached is a prevalent problem in Black marriages--articles and stories showcasing Black celebrities getting taking to the cleaners is not relevant to a community where in NYC the average Black college educated worker makes 42k--.

I know you aren’t a young dude so keep it a buck. You know marriage isn’t for weak dudes. It’s supposed to be reserved for that man that sacrifices himself for the good of his family and bloodline.

A lot of weak dudes get married to cuff women and place them on pedestals. Truth is, a lot of guys get married that have no business getting married. I am not going to speculate on why the marriage rate of black people is so low; however, if I have to use a barometer to gauge the truth in that article, then I have to look no further than the various GMB threads on this website.

How did you come to that conclusion?

I just read everything you posted, seems like you're saying that marriage rates are low because brehs are scared of getting divorce raped. "brehs are too scared of marriage even though they won't lose much from divorce since they own no assets" is essentially what you're saying
