Blame the greed and unreasonable cost of living.
I would assume the Great Depression was worse. The issues are that the wealth gap that started during the Reagan era has continued to widen, wages have not kept up with inflation and the rise of cost of living.

That is how capitalism destroys itself. If no one has disposable income, nothing can grow. People spend their entire paychecks on basics and have nothing else. That's not living. That's inhumanity and indentured servitude.

Don't forget the expensive degree you have to go into debt for, they say you need to get the job that may pay a reasonable wage.

if they stop trying to follow the path of their parents and those before them, I think they will be fine. They can make millions playing video games or find creative ways to get income using social media.

the idea you need to be stuck at some job for the benefits and retirement is a stale ideology. They will be fine if people quit comparing them to their forefathers. Their financial opportunities are plentiful, but just not always through that traditional route.

Der Wolff talks about the US economy here. in short the US has been living on borrowed time (and money) since the 70's. Since then wages have not been tracking productivity and we are at the culmination of that now.

The same is true in much of the West and the USA is in a better position than places like France and the UK.

I can’t agree with that. It’s plenty money in the US, but the way they teach you to get it, ain’t it. The army installation I worked for did $12B in contracts one fiscal year and that’s just one center. I’ve been binging American Greed as well and the money is definitely out there. Not saying to scam :whoa:but there is a legal avenue, but that 9-5 work until you 65 shyt is not it. Even Federal employees are encouraged to invest and start businesses.

lol the current career path doesn’t make sense for millions of workers period. A three month pandemic showed that. So if you’re saying there isn’t a way outside of get job and retire 40 years, then we will disagree.

I didn’t. I was kinda replying out loud to the text you typed in combination with other stuff I was reading. I shouldn’t have quoted just made a freestyle post. My bad.

There are kids making money reviewing toys on YouTube, streaming content, playing video games, developing apps, etc. The one kid made like a $1M playing fortnite. If his parents do the right thing, he shouldn’t need to be chasing down some job.

The whole go to school, work for a company, have co-workers and all that just isn’t the life to live, IMO. It’s fine if people find joy in it, but it’s not THE direction I’m steering my daughter in, but if that’s the option she ultimately chose, I’m not mad.
