Everyone can’t be a SM star, e-commerce titan or e-gamer, the odds are about as good as becoming a hoop star or rapper. Furthermore this completely dismisses that the damage is done and path has been undertaken for a most of the millennial generation. We were told by our boomer parents go to college = good job, it’s what worked for them but has proven to be broken for us in the past 5-10 yrs. A lot of millennials are already making adjustments by not owning shyt, especially compared to gen x and boomers at this age, but if you already got $20-150k in students loans, you’re stuck. This “new option” thing makes sense for gen Z to strike out on, but it’s too late for many millennials

Gen Z better not fukk it up. My pet theory is that they are pretty much Anakin when the time comes: could be the chosen one or plunge the US straight into hardcore fascism. That's because they got taken hardcore into ****** culture and know nothing influencers, let alone Trumpism being one of their few proxies for "government".

Good luck to us...

I was talking to my dad (who's a boomer) and he flat out told me, "My generation didn't leave yours shyt."

I was like, "Well, at least you admit it. :manny:"
Same convo with my mom, she was like “yea, we have all the wealth and we want our SS” she realizes we’re not living the same experiences but is able to admit they wanna just ride out the stat quo til they die

if they stop trying to follow the path of their parents and those before them, I think they will be fine. They can make millions playing video games or find creative ways to get income using social media.

the idea you need to be stuck at some job for the benefits and retirement is a stale ideology. They will be fine if people quit comparing them to their forefathers. Their financial opportunities are plentiful, but just not always through that traditional route.

we can't all be esports streamers/players, making youtube videos for a living or drop shipping. Jobs gotta start paying livable wages.

In modern history? Easily.

2 financial crises
A pandemic
An extended Middle Eastern war
Rising cost of education and living
Older generations staying in the workforce longer
Lower income growth than any previous generation
Low rates of home ownership
Low birthrates

shyt keeps rolling downhill with no end in sight.

time to hit the streets and burn something down

Only if western society refuses to let go of the existing norms and not embrace the social and economic changes that allow for us to sustain basic life.

precisely. There has to be a historic change on how baby boomers hand over assets, it needs to be quicker than in generations past.

Bc right now they are going to make sure they keep their assets for longer, they get access to free resources we won’t be able to tap into (healthcare & social security), they’re living longer (staying in jobs and leadership), and ddidntnhave nearly the crippling debt some of us had.

We need to normalize giving away a pieces of baby boomers houses/retirements earlier to their children in their retirement cycle.

Otherwise we’re going to be fukked for the next 20-40 years

Won't happen for another decade when we are the main voting bloc

There are kids making money reviewing toys on YouTube, streaming content, playing video games, developing apps, etc. The one kid made like a $1M playing fortnite. If his parents do the right thing, he shouldn’t need to be chasing down some job.

The whole go to school, work for a company, have co-workers and all that just isn’t the life to live, IMO. It’s fine if people find joy in it, but it’s not THE direction I’m steering my daughter in, but if that’s the option she ultimately chose, I’m not mad.

If those people doing the alternative means (professional gamers, developing apps) had a stable income, no one would say anything. Their success rate is as high as professional athletes (1 in 120,000). If that is the future success rate of the economy, its gonna implode.

Lower the cost of living and enforce retirement age to 60 years of age, outside of paying off outstanding debts like mortgages. Eliminate the 30 year mortgages, and lower the cost of essential needs.

Facts that’s not enough to have a substantial middle class for this generation. For our generation we can’t survive off just having one income and we have to have multiple streams coming in. The boomer generation had industries and half them people didn’t have to go to school or debt to live a middle class life. Now do I think education is important yes but we are at a point now where it’s damn near free. If you have an ambition and your able to self teach yourself right now the world is at your oyster in terms of knowledge.

It’s easy to say “fukk benefits and retirement” until you become old and sick. Plus in about a decade or two a lot of us will have kids about to enter College and that lack of property ownership (And less overall annual income due to two large recessions) means those future kids will have to take on debt just like we did.

It’s going from a gilded age to a new age of serfdom. Which was the last time in western history large amount groups of adults shared dwellings with other adults they weren’t married too (aka room mates and living with parents)

it’s Japan’s loss generation for America
