new arenas are usless unless the old arena is horrible and in the middle of nowhere, and now your making a swanky new arena downtown with like condos, convention center, new subway stuff and a vote agreed from tax payers.

Stadiums built in the 80s missed the boat. All the technological advances forced changes everywhere and sports is such a cash cow that you have to keep up with the times. Look at the stadiums currently built and in use. Most of them now are no older than 25 years old and the ones that are like Lambeau, Fenway, Wrigley, etc. are either steeped in history or get renovated annually.

i already see the nfl smelling blood in buffalo over a new stadium, even though there is nothing wrong with ralph wilson stadium, its just a easy out because buffalo is dead broke as a city and doesn't have a big population and can't afford to just build a swanky new downtown arena

i've even heard chatter of the warehouse rogers centre (skydome) but rogers bought it for 25 mill its right in the heart of downtown and the city aint spending a dime on a new stadium now or never

Only David Thompson (who owns the winnipeg jets) and thomson reuters has that much money to buy a nfl team for a billion and then pay another billion for its construction without public money.
