Those hours in then Texas cities looking long. Can the Coli stop lying about 50K being Mansa Musa there/in the South in general?

When they mention that, they mean: Louisiana, Mississippi, etc. and for the most part they wouldn't be lying. Also people assume those places are all complete shytholes; which is also a lie.

I digress, I dont care about this thread:mjgrin:

No we do realize that, because we also realize that those flyover/less developed states have a lot of pass-thru towns where ain't nobody trying to live, and to live metro areas even in these states there's an earning standard.

On top of hyperbole. Yes, I'm sure there's parts of the South/Midwest where you'll be making it at 50K, but all the "life like a king" shyt is cap unless you rented/bought a home a while ago and are grandfathered in/ain't moving.
What’s worse? Living in some bumblefukk town in the South or living in the hood in Baltimore, Newark, Philly, Stockton, Richmond because that’s the only place where you can get rent under $1500 on the East or West Coast and still being poor as fukk and working all the time 60+ hours a week... or living with family, friends, roommates or significant other while still having a tight budget unless you rent free. And there are bumblefukk towns that are the hood too all over the South that have the same issues with crime and safety as well known as East Coast/West Coast hoods. So it kinda evens out.

In an ideal world, a young person spend their early 20’s in school or learning a trade or working their way up in a job so by the time they are in their mid 20’s, they are financially independent. But life doesn’t always go according to plan and inflation/price gouging have made it so anyone who makes less than ~$200-300k+ a year isn’t really middle class. If we being real, even then you are still sold into a life of perpetual indentured servitude and still have to buy everything on credit and constantly owe someone else money for things you really don’t own.

That doesn't "even it out", it means I rather live in those cities listed.

All the good paying jobs are near expensive cities, it's by design. The people of min wage have to be there to fuel the upper class. So they will get squeezed, but not enough to leave, and hell it's less likely they can since moving cost also inflated.

Dumb article

If you are a minimum wage worker, you should not be looking for a single bedroom apartment, and top of that you won't be qualified for one

My mortgage for a 3br 2bath, 1700sq is 520. Apartment prices, not sure but this list seems accurate rentdata.org/states/Louisiana/2021

Your mortgage is less than half the state average for an apartment with the same # of bedrooms, and almost half of a 1B in it's largest city (I'm assuming a 1B is $900-ish based on studio and 2B prices). How long have you been in your house?

There was a time when you could and that is why people are upset. Particularly when a particular demographic that came up in a time when you could afford it on minimum wage is constantly telling younger generations to put down the avocado toast because back in their day they did X,Y,Z and got by just fine. Even people with “good careers” are struggling.

Crazy. I’m about to start a new side hustle, partly because I want my own place. But I’m gonna have to work so much, that I’ll hardly be able to enjoy it :francis:

Also for reference, I live in a non metro area, one hour away from a metro area. There are multiple avenues of means to make a good living here, I work at a hospital. So it's not some stereotypical barn and gravel road parish(not a single one).

I guess what I'm getting at is that, there are places like this all over the "south" where houses are affordable, means of living are available, and it's not just some podunk country lifestyle, and yes I live extremely comfortable.
