Its probably a bit much going on for a "casual" system. If it had better graphics and some hot 1st party games then it would have done much better.

Also nintendo needs to keep the nintendo name in there products.

There next system should be called new nintendo, so people can shorten it to n.n
Came in here to post this !!!

Man we could use another Super Nintendo :ahh:

Nintendo needs to make a HUGE change. Can't depend on Mario games and Legend of Zelda reboots forever :francis:
nikkas keep mentioning Zelda but they still havent even released a Zelda game for WiiU. The WiiU has hands down the best exclusives this gen. The console is just way mismanaged. So yea. The failure is def their fault.

But thats mostly due to the underpowered hardware...
Nope. How the hell do Xbox 360 and PS3 get alot of these games yet Nintendo gets the shaft?..Nintendo just has stubborn ways. And I been tryna tell cats its been like this since N64. That was best served as a secondary system as well but people seem forget that due to its amazing 1st party games.

Game cube at least got the 3rd party multi-platforms. It was only towards the end of that generation that we mostly saw Playstation2/Xbox titles that skipped out on the Gamecube - and that's because Nintendo had zero internet infrastructure.

It's Nintendo's refusal to jump on the online play bandwagon that hurt them.

Because the Xbox 360 and PS3 actually had next gen hardware? Yes Nintendo is stubborn.

But that's all you need. One or maybe a couple titles that people feel like they cant miss out on.

PS or Xbox drop with limited 3rd party support they'd still sell off the strength of halo, gears, uncharted,GOW.

Nintendo needs to develop some must have IP. Mario can't sell systems anymore
I agree that it is only a few games that can help you push a console, but the problem is that the Wii was a terrible experience when compared to the PS3 and XBOX 360 to the average gamer.

NINTENDO games played smoothly, but most third party games controlled like absolute dog shyt. So you had a situation in where people saw Call of Duty and the Wii and thought cool, let's play it...I am sure it plays well and played like absolute mierda.

TBH the only system I have a problem with when it comes to Nintendo is the Wii, I've even enjoyed the Wii U with the limited time I've ever spent on it.

The Gamecube was a solid system and so was the N64, the Wii was the fukk-up and I find it hilarious that people tried to shyt on ME for shytting on Nintendo when I knew this was coming. There was absolutely no way that the Wii miracle run wasn't going to come back to hurt them in a big way. You had a system in where I would think that 50%+ of the people who purchased it didn't turn it on for YEARS. It was a buyers remorse for MANY hardcore gamers...which is the core of all these companies whether people want to admit it or not. You lose the hardcore audience and you lose your base, you lose your base and the hardcore goes to the competition and is rather vocal about their opinions.

Microsoft is showing some of these companies how to recover from their fukkups, I give Spencer and the team at XBOX huge props for this turnaround we are seeing is something I did not expect a company to make so quickly. Nintendo seemingly can't do that even after releasing a solid console with the Wii U.

I agree controller just wasnt going to have the same Impact as original Wii
The Wii U is a better console than the Wii.

In fact the "impact" the original Wii has been exaggerated because of the lifetime sales of the console, in reality the Wii didn't really do anything for gaming. Motion controls are pretty much dead and everyone has moved on. Virtual Reality is what might take off next, but even that is not a guarantee.

The PS Move was DOA and we all know how the Kinect is doing in the gaming space. IMO it was a net negative overall as it took resources and time away from people making better "traditional games" that were 100X more fun when developed correctly.

Gamers have no interest moving from their seats. They definitely need to go back to making more quality games and refining experiences while experimenting with new gameplay types instead of new peripherals.

They do need some new IPs, and they do need 3rd party support but the idea that their first party games can't sell consoles is false. Any time they drop a first party game sales spike. The problem is they haven't dropped basically anything during the life of the Wii-U. There's no reason for it to be 3 years later, and no "Zelda".

Seriously Nintendo has NOBODY to blame but themselves, reason being is that Nintendo could be the most unstoppable company in gaming. Destroying both Sony and Microsoft EASILY. Why? Because they have a top of the line first party games that everyone wants and likes and its only on their consoles, and then you get third party games like COD, GTA, Fallout, Witcher, Battlefield, Fifa, etc, etc. But we don't see this. Why? Nintendo could easily have the best of both worlds, but again we don't see this. And its do to Nintendo's MANY, MANY, MANY flaws. The main one being their arrogance. Yes their arrogance which has been noted time and time again. And it started with the N64 and thinking they can be "innovated".

  1. They made a doofy controller with the N64
  2. While Sony was going the CD route, Nintendo was too arrogant to follow. Staying with using cartridges:beli:
  3. While Sony and MS were making it a standard to use DVD disc, Nintendo not only used regular CDs but those tiny disc
  4. Nintendo still doesn't understand that online gaming is a STANDARD...
  5. Ever since the Gamecube they decided to make their consoles so overpowered that its almost no different than last gen consoles. The PS2 was the weaker console during its gen, but it was NO WHERE NEAR almost the same in terms of hardware close to the N64 or PS1. The differences between the PS2 and Gamecube werent huge. Meanwhile the differences between the PS3/360 and Wii U is not that huge.
  6. During gen 7 Nintendo STILL understood that DVD discs are now a STANDARD. But it gets worse in gen 8 they still don't understand! The Wii U can't play DVDs or blu ray disc!!!:ohmy::ohmy::ohmy::snoop:
  7. They ignore their fanbase pleas
  8. They dont understand that social media and video forums like YouTube are a big part of modern gaming and because that we had the YouTube controversy.
  9. Them being "innovating" let to the Wii U having a doofy and expensive controller.
  10. They butcher any franchises of theirs that is not Mario, Zelda or Super Smash Bros. RIP the Metroid series which I loved back on the GC...
  11. Due to continuing to make their hardware underpowered, third party games cant make games for their consoles due to not wanting to gimp their games.
  12. Their marketing suckass. It was like they were too got damn lazy to market the Wii U.
  13. Due to their arrogance their do not want to change.
So again NO Nintendo, it is you who doesn't understand us gamers. You don't even understand your own fanbase. Nintendo only got lucky with the Wii, because they released it in the right era. Now the casuals have moved on to mobile games and other things. So now they don't have the casuals anymore. Either way the Wii was a short success, because sales were dropping and the PS3/360 were slowly catching up. Most casuals who bought a Wii only played it for weeks, before packing it up in their closest. I know because my family who are casuals owned a wii and after never touched it.

The whole entire Nintendo company needs a revamp in who's in charge. They need something like what happened with the Xbox division but BIGGER.

Nintendo only have themselves to blame...

This post deserves its on thread
