Most players didn't shoot many of them. The rockets team that won in 1995 led the league at a rate of attempts that'd be bottom half in the league today. I would not have left mike open and dared him to shoot the three as evidenced by several seasons of shooting it well when the line was moved in, but there's no reason not to try to be good at it. It's a valuable skill. It's not like if you just stuck the Bulls of the 1990's in this era it'd be a perfect translation. Nowadays lots of players put a lot of their time into their 3 point game. It's kinda the equivalent of the deep throw in football.

I agree, you should try to be good at it, but not at the risk of it becoming detrimental to your overall game.

The slow grind of the 1990s, made Jordan hit the gym and get bulked up so he can take the beating. No reason to assume, given his greatness, that he wouldn't adapt to the 3-point shooting ways of today.

4. Lighting the Victory Cigar Before the Victory

During 1997 NBA Playoffs, Chris Webber remembers seeing Michael Jordan walk into the Bullets' locker room prior to Game 3 at the US Airways Center in Landover, Md. With the Chicago Bulls already up 2-0 in the series and staring down a sweep, Jordan was feeling especially confident about his team's chances of closing it out that night. So confident that MJ walked into the locker room with a lit cigar—a victory cigar, if you will—and asked, "Who’s going to check me tonight?"

The Bulls finished Washington, 96-95.

Former NBA player Kendall Gill posted an Instagram video on Thursday afternoon detailing the backstory of one of the best dunks in NBA history.

In the caption, Gill describes a game in the 1992-93 season when the Charlotte Hornets were playing the Chicago Bulls.

The Hornets were playing the Bulls well, and as Gill describes it, he, Larry Johnson, and Alonzo Mourning were trash-talking Michael Jordan. MJ didn't take to kindly to it, and promptly dunked on Mourning.

Gill explains

Me, Larry Johnson, and Alonzo Mourning were young upcoming guns in the league. We were feeling ourselves in this game because we were giving it to the Bulls. After this play our Wild oats quickly became shredded wheats! Alonzo had just blocked 2 of the Bulls shots. We started talking smack. I could since [sic] MJ getting mad because We were matched up against each other. I didn't give a crap though because I was young, dumb and didn't know any better. MJ back doored me out of the triangle offense and put Zo on his collection of posters. Lol. Moral of this story? Callin out the Devil is one thing. Facing him is another! Never tug on Superman's cape unless you're absolutely ready! Did you hear me Pacman?

The Bulls went on to win the game 123-108. Jordan scored 52 points in the game, nearly outscoring Gill, Johnson, and Mourning combined.

Is it worth 50% more Championships? Cause MJ did just fine without totally focusing on that shot. Also, there's a lot of highlights of Jordan hitting either game-winning threes, or buzzer-beating threes...the man was able to make any shot when he had to. He just didn't fall in love with the shot.
Ask the Spurs. Ask the Heat. Ask the Mavericks.
