One month from launch, Warner Bros. delays Batman: Return to Arkham with no new release window

Batman: Return to Arkham, the PS4 and Xbox One remaster of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, has been delayed – indefinitely.

In a statement issued on the Warner Bros. forums, the publisher made some cagey comments which seem to suggest the project wasn’t up to scratch for its previously announced July 29 release.

“After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience,” a WB Games staffer with the handle SteveGrayson wrote.

“We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready.

“We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans.”

While it is of course disappointing to see a game you’ve been anticipating pushed back, it’s worth noting that Warner Bros. has traditionally seemed reluctant to issue delays, resulting in absolute trashfire situations like Batman: Arkham Knight on PC (and most recent Warner Bros. PC releases, to be honest). So perhaps it’s all for the best; lessons learned, and all that.

One of the most overrated franchises ever in hindsight.

I think people (including myself)were enamored with the fact that it was a batman game that wasn't totally trash.

But as you compare it to some of the truly great franchises, it's just OK as an action/adventure game :manny:
:camby:

Arkham Asylum/City were one of the best games last gen. Stop it with the "it's ok".

And don't even THINK about doing the "Well if you remove Batman, Gotham and the everything about it super hero it's an average game."

Compare it to any other action/adventure series.

Devil may cry, Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, God of war, Darksiders, etc. All better :manny:
:what:

Batman is an action adventure game.

Those games are hack and slashers. Those games have better combat but that's it.

Stupid comparison.

That's like comparing Gears of War to Ratchet and Clank because "Well Ratchet has guns you know.."

Man leave it to you to make dumb comparisons like that.

If Batman is to Devil May Cry or Bayonetta, then Xbox One is a VCR.

That's all batman is. Detective stuff is mindless trash. Stealth is good, but not very deep or challenging

Those were the best modern comparisons I could come up with.

What games would you compare it to?

The characters, the story, the setting/graphics etc are all top notch for a superhero game. There's really no other game similar to Batman so I'm not sure what you're asking. Until there's a bunch of equally good superhero games, I'd say Batman is the best so far. The combat rooms, the beautiful animations and combos that make you feel like you whooping ass and the fun gadgets/batman stuff make it a great game. Detective stuff feels just right. It's not super complicated for Batman so why make the player have to figure it out when it doesn't even mesh with the narrative??

So it comes down to being a good "superhero" game:smh:

As I said, without the batman stuff it's just an ok GAME.

As a game, the mechanics are merely serviceable and not really worth experiencing more than once.
