Toronto Maple Leafs are the worst team in North America, according to ESPN The Magazine.
In what has become an annual tradition, the publication ranked all 122 professional teams in the four major North American leagues (NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB), taking into consideration ticket prices, strength of coaching, fan experience, ownership, players, number of championships and ‘bang for the buck’ when calculating each club’s scores.

As a league, the NHL scored highest overall with more teams landing in the top half of the rankings than any other league, with 18.
Tampa Bay Lightning first among NHL teams and No. 3 overall, directly followed by the Anaheim Ducks (No. 4). The
Dallas Stars (No. 10) were the third-highest ranked NHL team.

This isn't the Maple Leafs' first appearance at the bottom of this list — the team has come in last place three out of the last four years.

The main reason?

"No franchise in the four major sports leagues charges more for delivering less ($139 total cost per game for a club that has failed to qualify for the playoffs in nine of the past 10 seasons)," wrote ESPN's Doug McIntyre.

But despair not, Leafs fans: The team's stock could be on the rise with the addition of Lou Lamoriello and Mike Babcock as the rebuilding Leafs try to turn the franchise around.

That kessel trade was desperation.

Seems more and more like the case now, but the return for the Leafs doesn't strike me as particularly outstanding and it's not his fault that Crosby and Malkin haven't even gotten on the scoresheet yet. Wikipedia etc. indicates that Jacques Martin is still employed by the team, I'm betting on seeing him (or maybe Ron Wilson?) in charge maybe as soon as this weekend if they lose to Ottawa to go to 0-4. Say what you will about Bylsma (and I have) but you can't say his teams took a shyt all over the ice the way this one has so far this year and at the end of last season.

Edit: what I wouldn't give to see Mike Keenan either light a fire under this team's ass or cause the whole damn thing to explode. The fukkery potential :wow:

No future, no studs

Babcock isn't even that good just a overrated ass coach

Can't wait for the cap to abolish so we can just pay out the ass for good players

Kings looking :flabbynsick: 0-3 all home games. Might be time to think about a coaching change :patrice: if this keeps up anyway. Team has way too much talent to look this shytty
These fakkits always start slow and at the end of the season the whole western conference hopes they don't make the playoffs :lupe::whew:

Just like the Giants in the NFL
