One reason I can’t fully agree with today’s players’ skill level being better is that those kind of high level double clutch layups are almost a lost art (except for Kyrie and a few others). Sure the handles are better and stretch bigs can shoot better also but now we see all the boring ass draw-the-foul flops more instead of creativity in the lane.

MJ was indeed the outlier but what I meant was I feel like I saw more of those finesse plays in the 90's and 2000's than now.
We’d say the same thing too if there was no zone and players could make a b-line to the basket once blowing past a defender.

Young guys are just as finesse and poetry in motion today if not more
