.MKV coming to XBOX ONE ...

this might actually be true, and im a xbox one fan

how would it be? If you wanna play MKVs on TVs there are far better solutions than paying $400-$500 for a game console. This won't effect anybody's purchase its just a nice treat for people that already own the console.

This whole desperation thing is laughable. Were people saying that about Sony after they dropped the PS3 and got embarrassed and came back with the PS4 on this whole humble vibe? Companies make mistakes and realize it then correct themselves. Its not desperation at all. I still can't believe how many people on this forum are butthurt and angry over what Xbox did under different leadership that isn't even around anymore. The new leadership of Xbox has been doing everything right considering the mess they were left and people still can't let go of the past.

because they know PS4 will NEVERRRR have MKV, so its 1up on PS4. they are not competing against tv's or other devices they are competing against ps4.

I was asking out of curiousity would this codec make the xbox onemore easily hackable to play pirated games, that was my line of thought.... jeezus christ.

Most media devices included TVs support MKV already so this isn't a big deal really.

Most gamers (which is this section) don't have all these crazy setups. We rock consoles
They either watching it directly via there PC, maybe got a HTPC set-up or they not eating.
But they will on the greener side, and they have been since launch via DLNA (mkv's have always worked via DLNA)

Good for people without dedicated streaming options. I have a Chromecast, but Sony is still lame for not allowing like...any streaming options for PS4.

Well the Xbox One has Cinavia like the PS3 since it has a Blu-Ray player on it so for the average non-tech savvy pirate getting access to MKVs won't help them. People just haven't found this out yet because the X1 doesn't have all that multimedia file playback yet but they will. All newer Blu-Ray players have Cinavia.

Cinavia only affects burnt disc on XB1, not media that you can stream
Just like it didn't affect it if you watched it via your PC, the XB1 has a windows kernel aka its a PC
