Bones best Wins: Bader, Shogun, Rampage, Machida, and Rashad.
Silvas best wins: Vitor, Sonnen, Hendo, Marquart, and Franklin.

Bones has had zero trouble with his best opponents. I seriously believe Bones would rain down Hellbows on Silva to a TKO win.

Marquardt is better than Forrest Griffin?

Anderson has the better resume, but Bones is really just a taller, bigger evolutionary Anderson Silva. I really don't think that Silva beats him if they were to fight at, say, the end of 2012 or the beginning of 2013. Maybe a year or two ago, Silva might beat him, but Jones is a much better and smarter fighter now. I'd think that Jones would outmaneuver him and knock him out.

Two other things:

1. Why do people keep saying that Jones needs to move up to Heavyweight? He walks at 230 for fukk's sake, he'd be severely undersized. If he gained weight, he'd lose the speed and craftiness that makes him who he is. Maaaybe if they had a Cruiserweight division, I could see Jones in that, but Jones at Heavy seems like pure insanity to me. This isn't Silva, who walks at 220 and is big enough to cut and still have enough size and strength, while retaining speed and elusiveness, to compete at Light Heavyweight.

2. If they ever did Silva/Jones, it'd be at Light Heavy. I don't see Jones viably being able to drop much further below 205, while Silva can make that weight easily.

More skilled fighter? Silva.

But Bones would use his reach and size to beat Silva. Spider even knows as much, which is why he won't fight him.

Because he's only 23 and the assumption is that he'll naturally grow larger (no homo).

As far as Bones being the evolution of Silva, I don't see them as that similar of fighters.

If they fought as of now, Bones would most likely win, the guy is physically built like Silva, great wrestling background, and most importantly ALOT younger.

Nevertheless, I don't see anyone being able to accomplish what Anderson Silva has done for the sport, defending the title 10 times is no joke and a highlight reel of crazy ass finishes.

Also, they're never gonna fight each other, Silva is Jones's idol and Silva knows Jones is the future of MMA. Silva still the GOAT tho.

I can see that, but he'd probably have to be at least 230 going into the cage to really compete with the Heavies in there now, and I don't see Jones doing that or ever wanting to do that type of weight gain. It's just too much, even for a guy like him (also, he's 24). Guys don't just move to Heavyweight the way people move to other weight classes.

Other than the fact that Jones can wrestle, I do see some similarities in their athleticism, their use of strikes (even if Jones' are more exotic) and dominance, but that's just me.

will he ever be big enough to compete against the heavies? that was fedors problem at the end of his career, hes 220 facing guys 250 plus

jones has a thin frame, he'll never be able to put more then 20 pounds on and stilll keep his athletic ability

yo, dont hate on gracie. that dude get mad respect in mma and he earned all of it

he was in ufc back when it was grimy , much less rules, no time limits and no weight classes. he consistantly went out there and beat dudes much bigger than him . he was on some real life david and goliath shyt

Wasn't the UFC created to showcase the Gracie family? A lot of those guys he fought were undisciplined, Kimbo Slice types who had no chance against Gracie's BJJ

Silva is the better fighter but Jones has the greatest potential in MMA History (Even greater then Shogun).

Silva is the GOAT no question right now. But Bones in 2011 alone has fought and finished 3 former LHW Champions back to back to back. Just crushed em all and those 3 fighters are better then anybody on Anderson's resume except for Hendo which is Bones next fight. The breh is only 24 and not even in his prime yet :wow:

If they were to match up right now i will have to give that edge to Bones just off his age, power and athleticism. Jones will trip Anderson and his GnP is just 10x more lethal then Sonnen and those elbows will cut anderson up.

But with Anderson there is always room for the unthinkable and his opponents know it as well. One false move against the Spider and its :dead:

This. And it wasn't supposed to be Royce in there to begin with, Rickson was going to be the one that they showcased. They put Royce in the tournaments because he was so small that his Jiu-Jitsu would look better when he beat people.

GSP is better than both, p4p.

No one here will admit this though, as he isn't black.:skip:
