Ross has had those kinds of songs on his albums since his debut breh

Check the first single from his first album!

not in the same vein at all, hustlin was a chopped and screwed and mia style

bmf is waka/lex style production, wit ross using waka flow, two entirely different songs, and now ross add one or 2 of them songs every album, and before AA ross from thrilla to deeper than rap wasnt rapping on any beat like that

Both camps have literally suffered from this....

Need an industry head to come speak on MMG/Self Made 3 becoming a tax write off for Atlantic Records. This time last year, Warner had MMG everywhere Self Made 2 was being promoted heavily. Bag of Money was all over radio one, Acting up was all in the streets

Atlantic has put 0 effort into Levels...

Wale's second single is non existent for The Gifted

I hope the music is good, MMG always puts out a solid product but I'm all but sure this about to catch a brick

Levels gets major burn out here in NY, especially the remix DJ Ted Smooth made

For one, Wale's not selling any less than he did when he put out Ambition. The thought that he's not selling as much is ridiculous. Ambition didn't go gold in 2 months, so why are we expecting the Gifted to do that? Bad, for as big as it was, wasn't a bigger song necessarily than Power Trip, and on top of that, it was on a mixtape he put out that you coulda downloaded 6 months ahead of time.

And you're wrong about their circumstances. J. Cole's "lackluster" debut still outsold Ambition and had a bigger hit than anything Ambition had.

And the only non-Atlantic MMG artist right now is Gunplay, though Def Jam eats off MMG anyway since MMG is an off-shoot of Slip-N-Slide, and they had a Def Jam deal.

Can you compare Ambition and the gifted's sales decline. The Gifted didn't sell as many records as Ambition in week 1 and is declining or falling down the charts faster. Right?

So doesn't that decrease the albums chance at a resurgence without a strong follow up second single?

Rick Ross is signed to Def Jam as a solo artist

Meek's biggest problem was that Dreams & Nightmares didn't have a big single other than a track off DreamChasers 2, and he appeals to the demo that will buy your shyt the least. Meek's one of those guys where his sales don't match his hype, because the hood LOVES Meek Mill. I've seen it firsthand. Put on that Dreams & Nightmares Intro on anywhere and everyone will sing it. They just won't buy it.
i be telling these nikkaz, like meek is these lil nikkaz father figure in the hood :russ: nikkaz argue me down meek is the greatest rapper, and all the old heads fukk wit dude to

I didn't think it was true til I seen him at Dyckman and then later at La Marina. At Dyckman, mind you it was packed anyway and VH1 was there for Jim Jones' show, but when Meek shows up, the game stopped and all the kids ran to hug that nikka like he was Joe Clark in Lean On Me. If I recorded that shyt and played Fair Eastside in the background, you couldn't tell the difference. Meek is a hero to these kids

That self made 3 bout to flop something vicious

Atlantic isn't promoting it all

go to their website.. Its really sad

I hate when hip hop gets the B list treatment..

You do realize Kanye West and Lil Wayne's last projects only went Gold. Kendrick being the only plat artist aside Jay-Z* within the last year and half :smh:

lol I'm trying to follow you brother but I can't. Ross has been on top of his game post BMF. God Forgives, I don't went Gold last year. He's on one of the biggest hip hop albums/songs to drop this year.

Teflon Don is 200K away from a certified plat via RIAA. They did a good job of incorporating BMF on Teflon Don from AA. They capitalized off its success perfectly. However, the same can't be said for the Meek blunder.
Not denying Ross had an epic run, but it's over. GFID underperformed when you look at where Ross was at the time. Remember, Teflon Don was sort of a surprise hit. He was selling alright before then, but that album made him That Dude. GFID was supposed to be his crowning moment though, and yet he couldn't find a hit record to save his life. I'd be all my coli cash that Ross won't go gold with Mastermind - he's now on that steady decline, just watch.

SM3 flopping will only further hurt his brand. Flooding the market with shyt only seems to work for Wayne and Drake these days. Ross thought he was on their level - hell, all three are constantly on the same track - but the numbers don't lie.

Dudes stay acting like these crews are supposed to be pushing major units for a decade+. Ross/MMG peaked in 2010-2011, had an ok 2012 and are on the backslide...oh well
