Above The Clouds
4th best mobb deep album ever
I stand on my opinion that this is a 10/10 album released on 10/10. Not one single bad verse from Havoc, Prodigy or the guest appearances. The deep underlying production on almost every beat shows why Havoc and Alchemist are above all still do this day. You're doing yourself an injustice by not listening to this with some over the ear cans. I still stand on no words can express how ill this album is. It's a perfect blend of early Mobb Deep, Infamous Mobb (sadly no features per say), mixtape Mobb Deep with a sprinkle of G-unit days Mobb. I love the fact they had more than 1 RnB style Mobb track too, HER and Jorja did their thing.

Still hurts to know Prodigy isn't here with us, I still don't play too many P tracks just for that, but this album rejuvenated my spirit.

Edit
Also just on some fun "What if" shyt

50 should have been on Easy Bruh
Godfather Part III on The M. The O.
Kool G Rap on Taj Mahal
Cormega on Score Points

Someone tweeted Al that it was “impossible to drop all these projects before 2026” and Al replied and said “impossible only takes one week”

I still think we get them all before 2026. There’s still almost 90 days left this year and it seems important to him that all these drop this year

I mean the work’s already done so there’s definitely a possibility that they all drop before the end of the year. Alchemist says a lot of stuff on Twitter though - his Twitter fingers are worse than Meek Mills lol

If the Erykah album does come out, it would most likely be towards the end of the year as the Hit Boy album (which he’s currently doing media for) is out on the 24th and then Armand Hammer is out November 7th. Plus Erykah is touring now until early December and Alchemist will be touring with Premo from mid November to the end of December, so I personally don’t think it would be something that they just throw out there, especially as it’s her first album for 15 years as said - they would only have like the last week of the year to promote and do media for it. And as someone else said, there’s a possibility that he’s also got projects dropping with Conway and Boldy.

How he juggles all this is absolute insanity though - I don’t think there’s been one month this year where he’s not been promoting or touring a new project - dude’s home life must be the real life version of the Grandpa Simpson hat/door gif looool

i kinda wanna shed a few tears... f*ckin havoc and alchemist did it brehs, they actually put out a project that's worth listening for years to come. I've said this sh when it comes to older rappers dropping projects this far in their career, STICK TO THE PRODUCER and SOUND that your fans fell in love with from the rip, that's the only thing that's been my problem with Rae and Ghost, deviating from having RZA produce on any of their latest projects. It's the reason why Clipse we're successful with their latest drop. STICK WITH YA DAY 1 PRODUCER THAT GOT YOU THERE!

I’m glad they kept the original features from the Infamous tbh (with the slight additions of Clipse, no Q-Tip and some vocals from Jorja and H.E.R) - it’s like a nice full circle moment to finish the discography….shyt I wouldn’t be mad if they called it the Infamous 2 as it definitely would be great addition to the legacy of that album.

The only features that I would’ve liked to see is Infamous Mobb on a track as they had some great moments in the wider Mobb Deep legacy (Murda Musik movie and their first album which was EPed by Alchemist).

This is no shade but p rapped better than ghost Rae and slick Rick from beyond the grave
Let’s not go crazy here lol

Ghost and Rae were rapping on their albums - it’s the production that held them back from delivering something on this level….when you’ve got Hav and ALC overseeing and handling this, the production was always gonna be stellar - they’re both in the conversation for top 5 hip hop producers of all time

One of the best takes in this thread - probably the best take tbh. The reason why Clipse and now Mobb are getting the plaudits is because they went back to the essence and pinnacle of what made us fans of them and hail them up as legends. The production is a big part of that - Pharrell knows better than anyone how to produce Clipse, Hav and ALC know better than anyone how to produce Mobb.

People saying RZA ain’t the same RZA - they were saying the same thing about Pharrell and Havoc before these projects dropped. RZA is busy as fukk but so is Pharrell - I bet if RZA was able to lock into a project with Rae and Ghost like Pharrell did with Clipse for the past couple of years (more likely Ghost), they would’ve been able to drop something comparable to the Clipse and Mobb albums.
