Writin' in my nocturnal journal to a dark beat
On a cold dark night, I came up with these
Four hundred words that best describe me
And my lifestyle, I'm not like you, I'm unique
In the twilight, I shine bright and get my mind right
I was born under the full moon
And I'll die starin' up at the cosmos
Laid out 'til my heart come to a stop and then my eyes close
I lived a full life, don't cry for me
A real-life king of New York, the top of the heap
I did songs with Mary J. Blige, my nikka
Mariah Carey, Big Pun, and Nas, my nikka
I did tours with Biggie Smalls, my nikka
Eminem, 50 Cent, I did it all, my nikka
The shows, the hotels, and the afterparties
When that sun goes down, yeah, the moon shine for me

"from the borough that sold the most albums in rap"

is that a fact :jbhmm:

Going by US Sales

Nas himself has sold over 17 Million album units in his career.

50 Cent has sold 16 Million

LL has sold 13 Million

Run DMC 8 million

Mobb Deep has sold three million

Capone N Noreaga have sold 1.5 Million

Only Brooklyn has probably sold more combined rap units when you factor in Jay-Z, Biggie, Lil Kim, Foxy, Fabolous, etc.

What I'm amazed about more than it being a dope album is that Down For You is actually a fire mainstream single. Against The World was a great street single too. Mobb have actually always been great singles artists, but its kind of crazy that they could do it in 2025. I can see it getting on a lot of playlists and becoming one of their biggest songs for the streaming era.
Imagine if mobb of all things, has one of the breakout hits of the year. 2025 will be year of the uncs

You didn't include Run DMC or Onyx.

You can’t leave out Nicki Minaj, who’s sold more than all that list.

I'm halfway through and the album is BANGING. NGL I was not expecting this quality. It sounds up to date and like a blast of the past at the same time. Couple tracks have an American Nightmare/Free Agents vibe to it, but...better.

Anyways what's the story behind these tracks? Do y'all know when P's verses were recorded? Are there some tracks that they were already working back then before he passed and that got reworked now? Because so far this sounds much more coherent and "organic" than most (semi)posthumous albums.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Ah yes thats true. But in the US she hasn’t outsold Nas or 50 Cent. She’s currently at 15 Million sold.
No she's not. Nicki has sold over 100 million records in the US alone and is the highest selling female rapper of all time. I don't know where the hell u got that 15 million shyt from. Lol. Unless u speaking on just strictly album sales.
