Until The End Of Time...
:wow:

Pac is the only rappers whose music has broken me to pieces, and he's done it a few times, hearing this song (not my first time but a certain point in time) broke me :mjcry:

Nas is my GOAT...but Pac is my GOAT too, I know @spliz and some of y'all feel that :wow:

And Prodigy is right behind those two, for me :blessed:

Until The End Of Time...
:wow:

One of my favorite music moments was my HS basketball team doing a road tournament, fall or early winter the year that album came out. That was the dominant album we were listening to; Ballad Of A Dead Soulja gotta but up there for classic intro tracks, Lil Homies...damn near the entire first disc is amazing.

Nore was def #2 in terms of who we were listening to lmao. Heavy Melvin Flynt/Da Hustler but I wanna say we had a burned CD with leaks from God's Favorite, which hadn't come out yet. Nas was in there too. Stillmatic wasn't out but we def had One Mic (with the dogs barking lol). Funny thing is I don't remember us listening to The Blueprint at all, but I def remember listening to Vol 2 a bit during that trip. Maybe none of us had The Blueprint on CD.
Bro Until The End Of Time was so fire. Big reason was cause Johnny J was still involved. Good Life is one of my fav Pac tracks of all time.

Congrats to Hav, ALC, P, NaS and Mass Appeal. Mobb Deep's "Infinite" to debut at #90 on Billboard 200 Album Charts. I don't know the numbers yet but they leaked the new debuts. Official list to be released tomorrow. I believe Ghostface made some charts as well but this is the 1st Billboard 200 entry from the "Legend Has It" Series. I know NaS didn't do this series for sales but it's good for Mobb to chart in the streaming era. Their highest charting albums are "Murda Muzik" and "Blood Money" at #3. "Hell On Earth" hit #6 and "Amerika's Nightmare" Hit #4.

They have 3 #1 albums on the R&B/Hip Hop Charts with "Hell On Earth", "Infamy" and "Blood Money". "Infamous" hit #18 back in 95. "Infamy" hit #22 due to heavy competition in Dec on 01. Lastly "Infamous Mobb Deep" hit #49 after a hiatus. "Free Agents: Murda Mixtape" hit #1 on the Independent Charts and #21 on the Billboard 200. Mobb's biggest Hot 100 hits are "Shook Ones II", "Survival of the Fittest", "Hey Luv", "Burn" and "Got It Twisted". "Outta Control" remix with 50 is their biggest overall hit at #6. They have 7 Top 10 Charting Hip Hop/R&B Albums total (6 were Top 5). Their Debut "Juvenile Hell" (Which I brought the disc when it came out) is the only album not to make the charts. The single "Hit from the Back" did find success on the rap charts.

This would have gone gold in 99 easy.

Based on this series I thought Mobb, De La, NaS and Premo had the best chances to make the main chart. Ghostface did well on Independent and Sales charts as well as overseas in the UK. Raekwon charted overseas in the UK. Slick Rick didn't chart but he was dropping his first album in like 27 years. Big L debut came in at #149 but "The Big Picture" came in at #13 so we'll see what his album does. Again all of these artist have sold millions and had hit albums. This is a different stage in their careers. NaS is showing that elder rappers do still have a place in the game with his series.

I wish I would have bet that Mobb would chart. The name, the demand, Alchemist involved, Nas features all over the project. Grats to Mass Appeal, Mobb Deep, Nas, everyone involved.

They also had a loooooot of promo. And you could tell that a lot of the traditional media, which often has no one to truly interview in depth, really enjoyed the process. Shade 45, Big Boy, Jada & Fat Joe, Hot 97, etc.

We keep getting proof that there's a clear market for older rap artists, and the infrastructure is in place to market it. There are always going to be fans who just don't know an artist they loved 10+ years ago dropped a new album. I was talking to somebody a few months ago who had no idea Nas dropped multiple albums in the last 5 years lmao. A lot of these older people (often men with lives/jobs/family/etc) don't know when something is coming out but they stumble across rap media. So going out and working records to ACTIVATE your fanbase is key. Maybe you chart. Maybe you don't. But history says you're going to at least get those people to come to a show/concert. So it's worth it.

This is all cool.

But it's like Premier said not too long ago, "Fans gotta stop acting like they work at record labels." Where albums chart and how much they sell, is still the kinda sh*t that only the actual artists and labels should be discussing. On the fan side, the important thing to do if you really f*ck with the music, is to go spend bread on these albums. Support them monetarily.

I can't even imagine in '94, sitting around with my people as kids talking about, "Yo! You heard that new Nas joint? I heard the album moved 60,000 units first week". HAHA! WTF? JID just said recently that the most annoying thing for him, is seeing fans talk about sales and chart positions. And I get it. Because none of it matters. It definitely shouldn't for fans. What matters most is the quality of these projects, and really, just the fact that these legends are still making music.
