Never knew it was so simple to get or heard it associated with anything outside of tampon use and women doing extreme things or being seriously unlucky.

First heard about it cuz my dad worked for P&G when they came up with those super absorbent tampons that the CDC ended up releasing a warning about then the FDA helped them 'voluntarily' recall it and started FDA regulations and required medical warnings from producers of feminine products. I guess a lot of people thought it was questionable from the moment it went in development.
Had a friend in residency treat a girl who used a tampon for the first time but there was other stuff that made her body the perfect storm for TSS. The part I really remember was that she was put on a bed that rotates like a spit to shift her body position to keep fluid from building up and pooling in her lungs.
