Was this posted already? :mindblown:

Damn that’s fukked up:mjcry:. Hood deadly.

But I hate to tell you dumb ass leadership get people killed stateside all the time. In the army they usually post all all kind of crazy mishaps in the bathroom for awareness purposes I guess. So while u at the urinal taking a piss you would read how some guy was sleeping under a Bradley in the field and somebody started it up and ran him over.

Yes, but your job mostly determines if you’re destined for direct combat. If you’re an infantryman and under 5’7” you’ll probably have to carry the m240b/m240L.

It’s not because it’s easier for you. It’s just so your platoon sergeant or squad leader can show off how much his short guys can hump or how much cooler his short guys are than everybody else’s short guys. Expect the tallest people in your unit to randomly pick you up for no reason. Everyone seems to love really short guys in combat arms like a good luck charm or mascot. Joe’s over 6’1 seem to have a disadvantage. If they’re not exceptional at something then everyone looks at them like a useless, disgusting waste that needs to carry everything to absolve the sin of being tall for no reason.

Historically most of the Army’s vehicles are designed for people under 6’. It’s best to be average in height anywhere in the Army.

If you made it through basic and AIT then there’s no reason you wouldn’t be deployed with the rest of your BCT. If seen a guy with narcolepsy in country and another guy in his company have a heart attack and still not be allowed to go home (went to Germany then sent back to East Afghanistan) . They just sent the heart attack guy to a larger base to work with battalion support company (mechanics, truck drivers, water dudes, etc.). We had to practically rescue an infantryman who had a broken leg because they thought he was good luck and he was soft if he left.

Yeah, that happened at NTC a few times as well. Something like that at Carson too last I heard.

So much fukkery, you met any one decent in the military?
Absolutely. I said earlier in the thread that I've met the worst and best people in my life through the military. And to go further, the military would not be what it is without the combination.

Hood is special because the bad people are so good at being bad, that the good people have to do bad things too. People will turn away from the obvious right thing to do constantly at Hood.

I feel like someone gets ran over in garrison every 2 weeks. Maybe even more frequently.

Curious on @Dray5K thoughts about this. I always wondered by most wait until they leave to do college. Is because most can't do time management?
This is what I was actually contemplating when I was deciding on joining either the reserves or go active duty. Getting my degree was my primary goal when I enlisted as well. When it came time to make my decision, I chose active duty because it was simply the best option for me so that I could achieve my other litany of goals.

From a logical standpoint, I'd say that it depends on a person's quality of life, and their current standing scholastically. Most people don't know this, but — at least in the navy — you'll earn college credits with each rank that you ascend to. Because of my rate and rank (Logistics Specialist & E-4) I automatically have 28 college credits to my name after only two years of active duty. It would've taken me a couple years longer to get E-4 if I had gone and joined the navy reserve.

Another point that I'd like to make is that it doesn't take 8-10 years in order to get a degree if you go active duty. You can actually take college classes from home and on-campus/on-base/on deployment. I'm currently enrolled in a university that pays for my books, while offering me online and on-site classes for a total of 8 weeks per course (3 credit hours per course). It's common to see people take 2 classes simultaneously for the entirety of the year, which would mean that they could earn 36 credits during that time. On average, you only need 60 credits to earn an associates, so if you do the math, you'd see that, with the addition of your credits for your pay grade, you'd be able to have a 2-year degree in under two years.

I said all that to put into emphasis how important making rank would be for not only your navy career, but your post-military career as well, and in that regard, the reserves would probably be better for you because (in the navy reserves, at least) you make rank fast (dependent on your rate. My rate is one of the most populous and is sitting at 6% from E-5/E-6:scusthov:.

Took this girl 4 years to join the Air Force because of........eczema. Seems that if you want to join the Air Force it's best not to bring up mild medical issues. Seems it would immensely complicate the enlistment process (due to being disorganized. Having to re-submit medical records for the 20th time because they lost it)

Of course it isnt. Keep something like that you can hide to yourself. That way when it becomes an issue, you can say it happened while serving. My ex was an Air Force vet but was still active with the Guard. She messed her arm up and was having nerve damage it seemed but it didnt happen during drill, it happened when she was home with me. She went to the doctor here and regretted it because she knew she shouldve held off until she got back on base. Say it happened there.

Fort Hood is demonic..it’s a big ass post.

Soldiers get swept away from flash floods on post every year and bodies never found.

A E6 in my unit got arrested for robbing 2 banks..

People go missing and die all the time on that post.

The NCO who was in charge of the sexual harassment program on the post was running a prostitution ring.
Went through ft. hood (dropped by lackland afb and pulled up) remember stoppin by a Waffle House on the late night near there and it was OFF THE HOOK, shyt was wild.....nothin but military, neighborhood cats and hoes after the club and it was jumpin...in Waffle House

Just seemed like a crazy place.....stuff in this thread doesn’t surprise me
